Do any of the film canisters have lids that go "inside" the canister? Not the kind where the lip of the lid locks over the outside of the rim? The ones with the "innie" lids are what we use at Girl Scout camp to make Rockets with Alka Seltser Tablets! If you have any of those I would be really interested!

The Girl Scouts are making rockets??? How cool is that? When I was a GS, we made those silly sock monkeys. I wanna make rockets!!

~zess...wondering if Mrs. V. warns the girls that they could poke an eye out...

The rockets are sooooooo much fun! You decorate the canister with a paper rocket and and adult loads up the Alka Seltzer while you stand back...Takes a few minutes to pop, but when it does.... From the Junior Girl Scout Handbook on Aerospace!
Wanna copy???? Too fun for any age and gender!

BTW...I love Sock Monkeys!

I'd love a copy! My kids love things that explode. lol.

Doesn't surprise me at all! Do you still make them in GS? I saw slippers in the store that looked like those old sock monkeys--the person in line with me wondered out loud whether kids today would even know what they are.

Camp Fire Lady is the best!

When I got home yesterday there was a HUGE box on my front porch! Not only are there enough film canisters to keep my troop happy for weeks, but all sorts of other goodies for my girls to craft with!

What a wonderful surprise!

Thank you Camp Fire Lady! I love this new group!

Glass Seed Beads-Need Any?

I've got 3 tubes of small seed beads (black, green, and turquoise) from Hobby Lobby. They are just too small for me to work with so they are practically all full. Does anyone use these in crafting projects? I'd be happy to send them to you or trade for some LTC sleeves (used are fine).

What do you make with them? I made some kids bracelets but decided I would NEVER work with them again.

What do you make with them

Get some of that really really sticky 2 sided tape called tacky tape???? or something. Its pink and very thick. Make a shape, an image, a letter, whatever you want out of the tape and stick the beads to it. They charge an arm and a leg for seed beads at those Stampin' parties. Most excellent for LTC's and cards and such.

deniserows
in thousands of seed beads
Bag o' letterboxing odds & ends, etc.

It's a big bag of stuff that's been hanging out in the closet. I think we picked it up at a gathering: tins, logbooks, stamp pad material, stamp mounting stuff, markers, etc. All need to go to a good home where they will be used!

If you're local to Redmond WA, email me and we'll arrange the transfer. Don't want the hassle of mailing.

Does anyone use a zoom/lamp to carve? I got new glasses but still have a hard time with the contrast and I bet a work lamp with zoom will help.
I would like to buy one but would like get suggestions. Xzoom, lumens, etc.

I am not sure what an Xzoom is, but I can tell you what I use.

I bought a 10x magnifying glass with an LED light built in. The light died in a few weeks so I got my money back but they told me to keep the mag. glass. So then I bought a free standing small LED light with a neck that can position the light on my carving material (the light is small but powerful). The LED in this light flickers some times which is annoying. I find the key to my carving is the10x magnifying glass. If my work space is bright or I am outdoors carving, I don't even need the extra light.

I ordered it at Walmart, it was cheaper than Amazon but I had that feeling it has been discontinued, which means I might have to keep shopping :-/ - will see.
I wondered if I should buy a 10X magnifying glass but I guess 2.25 is plenty. It's not like I can't see the stamp LOL.
I can't wait to actually see what I am doing!

Yeah, I'm spoiled now. I'd hate to have to carve without it.

The problem with higher magnification is you get a lot of glass shake. Plus for me, I can out run the size of my carver. 😉

As my eyes got worse I just went to the dollar store and bought their highest magnification readers to supplement my lighted magnifying glass. Works great.

Lots of luck!

I totally would do that but I already have prescriptions and I can't use anything but those (blah blah), so the new toy will have to work well. At this point though, anything is better than my bare desk with the mediocre light. LOL
It says it comes on Friday so I am postponing carving until then. SO BORING! I wish I was better at this anyway.
