OK: I just got a brainwave. I've been thinking of starting a series in that area anyways and have already planned the stamps, etc. So... I'm going to carve and plant a NEW letterbox in the area that ALL the active boxes (I'm thinking of one in particular) will want to come and find. I will make it winter friendly and that should get it going quickly without giving an obvious hint).

Any other thoughts!!!

I like this idea of yours. Also, if your area is not that active, I don't see anything wrong with putting a notice out there that a special HH is waiting somewhere. You could always take it to PA or mail it to someone to launch, but I think it's more cool that this HH is going to travel all the way from ON, so I'd love you to launch it from there somewhere.

You answered your own question. I put my Nativity HH in a new box that I planted, with a note in the clues that there is a special surprise for the first finder. It was found by 9:00 a.m. the morning after I posted it on AQ!

Esmerelda's donkey was in my mailbox this morning - so I went right out and planted it in the Winter Solstice box. Nice, clear 40 degree day when I left my house - by the time I got to the LB, it was sleeting! Luckily, it was a drive-by where I could stamp in in my car. Hopefully, the donkey will get found soon.

Has everyone planted? Does anyone still need to get theirs planted? Not looking to nag anyone - just curious.

Did anyone else make LTCs of their stamps for these HHs? I have a few camel LTCs left, if anyone would like to trade!

The Shepherd went out yesterday. I had to create a new box and figure out where to plant it, so it took a bit of time, but it's out there now!!

I will post the clue tonight (need to write it up completely) and there are hopefully a couple of local letterboxers (at least one I can think of) who will "rush" to be the first finders and get the HH moving on it's way.

Today I re-visited the box where we launched our Nativity sheep hh. Only one finder has come thru since we were there. Name: "The Flynns." Their stamp looks like a rubber ducky. No date. They apparently took the hh, but there are no Flynns on AQ or LbNA.

So, I hope they understand what they found and will move it along to a new box. Not a real auspicious start, though.

Well, I hadn't gotten any finds on mine until recently when it got a big jump from GA to TX! Yippee! But, someone had moved it without logging it. So, it's possible that they are all moving, just not being logged.

Still haven't figured out how to get my scanner to do what I want so I can post a picture!

I was just wondering if anyone had a note on how far their HHs had traveled? Last I heard my Star had traveled all the way to Portland, OR. How are the others fairing? Hopefully well. Hope to hear from you soon.

The three wise men were last logged in Georgia in February. But, it was logged by someone who lives in Texas. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything since February.

I mailed mine to the west to begin its journey. I have never heard from the person who promised to plant it for me. Maybe it got lost in the post office? :(

Oh yeah - My airplane was planted in WA and last logged in Bellingham WA in April.

Neither one of mine seems to be making much progress.

I feel like overall, these HHs are being logged less than the other HHs I have out there. Maybe people are leaving them, thinking that if they can't move them to another state, then they're not going to take it. My idea was always just that if you took it, move it to a box west (for the Nativities) of where you found it, not east, even if it is only west by 1 mile. I'm thinking maybe people have been too intimidated to move these HHs. But, it's only a theory.

My shepherd has made it through 9 stops, but only from Ontario down as far as Troy, NY. Methinks it's not going to make Oregon by this Christmas unless someone is flying or driving back across the country with it... highly unlikely.

I thought our sheep had disappeared, but I was relieved to find out it hadn't. We launched it in January, and when I checked the box a few weeks later the hh was gone, but it hadn't been logged online. Then in September it was found by a boxer I know in another local box. She moved it immediately to a hh hostel, and as far as I know it's still there. So it really hasn't made any progress at all, but on the other hand it still exists.

My Angel Gabriel had made it from Maine to Milwaukie, Oregon on July 23rd. I don't know if it's made it to the Nativity box yet though.

As of March 1st the little girl doll had been found in the box my sister had planted it in Seattle. No idea of any movement.

Hey mud -

Did you ever plant a traditional box "Island of Misfit Toys?"

My airplane was last logged in NY state in April. Does it have somewhere to travel to?
