I agree - definitely did not see it coming. I love the way he said, after his announcement, over and over, “WE” did it, making it about everybody, not himself.

I like watching the episodes but am not enthralled with who wins. Watching this was great. The woman lost me as she came across as a bit arrogant. He was humble and humorous. Midway, I thought, this guy could take it and you could see the jury come to his side. After the win, jaws dropped when he said what he was going to do with the prize. A true blind side.
Okay guys, I think I am finally ready to discuss . . .

Okay guys, I think I am finally ready to discuss White Lotus Season 2.

The following contains spoilers, so if you haven’t seen Season 2 or if you haven’t finished it, avoid like COVID. Also, adult related content ahead.

To briefly recap, season 2 mostly consists of 3 groups/families coming to Italy White Lotus Hotel.

Family #1 is the 3 generations of men and their “women” problems.

Group #2 is old college friends, one who is suddenly rich gets invited by former college roomie to come to Italy for a week with their wives.

Group #3 is Tanya from previous season meeting her husband in Italy and bringing her personal assistant with her.

First and foremost, I think what bothered me the most about this entire season is how the reasonably intelligent characters for the sake of the show suddenly became STUPID.

Let’s start with the family of 3 generations.

Daddy brings courtesans to the hotel. MMM-k. The courtesans then sink their claws into JR. All the while grandpa sees the courtesans running around, knows who they are, especially when he catches them in his room, and bites just has hard into the courtesans’s main ploy with the “pimp”. I am laying in my mixed-match pajamas, with sporting one sock for heat regulation purposes, looking at the screen, going ”they are not this stupid.”

BUT THEY ARE!

And then it gets worse with the “$50,000” buy out. Folks, come on. You’re this stupid. And daddy, who tells Jr. that he’s just a mark but he pays anyways. Are you kidding me rn???!!!??

How did you become rich making these kinds of stupid decisions?

Okay, let’s talk about the old college friends. Ethan, good guy. Devoted husband to a wife he’s not really attracted to. His nagging/mopey wife is Harper, portrayed exceedingly well by Aubrey Plaza, is a highly intelligent woman who can smell bull-crap a mile away. Ethan just made a lot of money selling his company.

Enter former roomie and financial investor, Cameron and his lovely wife. Conveniently after Ethan made his fortune, Cameron invites him to Italy to reconnect. Funny how that happens when someone is suddenly wealthy. The reconnection.

Anyhooo, once the wives are gone for ONE night, Cameron manages to hire, anyone??? Anyone??? The courtesans to keep the loneliness at bay. Now, granted while Ethan is extremely tempted, especially after Cameron explains to him how “everyone is cheating”, (Again cut to me on the couch, eating a fair-trade chocolate candy bar going ‘’We are????”), he still declines.

However, his ever-astute wife knows something is up. Now despite his repeated denials of everything, when she finds a condom wrapper in their couch, trust is broken. Ethan’s street cred is gone.

So, again, she asks him about what happened and again Ethan lies. Well, finally she lets him see the condom wrapper, and the mind games of she knows and now he knows she knows and what’s she going to do about it begins.

So, it comes to light that Cameron used to swoop in on the girls Ethan liked and sleep with them. Which also explains why Cameron is making it very obvious that he would be interested in some afternoon delight with Harper.

And as it is, there is a time gap where it is plausible that Cameron and Harper hook up. And this is the last straw for Ethan.

Okay, fool. Ethan just no. Um, irregardless of remaining faithful, the second you didn’t come clean about the courtesans, you lost credibility. Harper had all the faith in you. She said it. And then you expect her to believe you after you repeatedly lie to her face about them, just like that!

Um, no fool.

And then, despite knowing that your wife was saying Cameron couldn’t be trusted, the second there is missing time, you automatically think she sleeps with him.

WOW. Keep digging that stupidity grave.

And then Ethan does thee most STUPIDEST thing ever. It is implied that he sleeps with Cameron’s wife.

And suddenly Ethan is happy again. He’s suddenly in love with his wife again. Everything wonderful again. I guess he deleted all of those adult-related big chested videos.

WTH????

No dude. You are now officially Cameron. You just did what Cameron has been doing to you and fool, now you are dirty Cameron, congrats.

People, please envision a pretty girl shaking her head with disgust.

Okay, now let’s talk about what really been bothering me. Portia and Tanya.

Tanya is a rich but highly emotionally person who married the strange guy from season one.

Her husband is already in Italy and has asked her to join him. You immediately know something is off because she repeatedly complains that her husband is not answering her phone calls as she arrives at the hotel with her personal assistant, Portia.

And there’s the tall-tell signs of talking to someone in the bathroom or in the middle of the night. A lot of us divorcees knows what this is.

And her husband is adamant that Tanya get rid of Portia. Um, k. You think maybe he wants alone time with his wife but then he’s like, “I gotta go babe, be back real soon.”

And you are like, um, k. But in a different, confused way.

And now for the spoilers. Seriously SPOILERS.

After he leaves, promising to return, she becomes fast friends with a group of gay guys who own villas in Italy. And that’s all they talk about: their depilated villas.

Oh, and what a co-winkie-dinky, they got a hot young man just for Portia’s entertainment, young Jack.

But something isn’t right. Some of the curious things young Jack says seems odd. And then they get Tanya alone at a party and encourage a la co-cina fest. And funny enough, they have a “friend” for Tanya too. So, while Tanya and “friend” are having a special meeting of the bodies, Tanya stumbles upon a curious picture of the host Quentin, in his younger years, and her husband, in his younger years.

And about the same time, young drunk Jack begins to talk too much and reveals that maybe the fast friends aren’t as they present and perhaps are more nefarious than what they pretend to be. And Portia is just sitting there, listening to this, realizing that her boss is trouble.

SO! What does they two dazzling, bright-eye divas do?????

Absolutely NOTHING.

Yes! Yes! Yes! You just got word that your boss, who is partying in a stranger’s villa, is surrounded by nefarious men and what do you do???? Why go to sleep next to one of the co-conspirators. That’s exactly what anyone with an ounce of intelligence would do.

Not call your boss.

Not try and get a cab to the villa.

Or at least something after Jack passes out.

Not do a damn thing.

And, surprise, surprise, your cellphone goes missing the very next morning because young Jack remember that he talked too much the night before.

As for Tanya, you continue your little meeting adventure, and later, you sit and think about the picture and do nothing about it. Not realize that something is amiss and try and save your own damn life. Nope. Just literally sit there with your bags, still trusting these sudden fast friends, one of which has a picture of your husband in youth on his dresser.

And yes, I think I am upset that she died. Not because she died but because her husband got away with it. He won.

Okay, maybe a little that she died.

I just can’t stand stupidity. I. Just. Cant.

Are you a Columbo fan? I found this on YouTube and I love it. She takes each episode and breaks it down talking about the actors, the history of how it was made etc. I’ve been loving these. Here is the first one https://youtu.be/s1T4rsxFMtg

Long time, huge fan of Columbo. In the last few years, I was watching reruns where I could say the lines with the actors, I had seen the episodes so many times. Don't know where they are on tv any more, so I'll check out this link. Oh, and just one more thing . . . thanks 😉

Always loved Columbo. Haven't watched any old episodes in quite a while. There are so many great old tv shows on Youtube. Some of the free streaming channels also have a lot of old shows.

I'll have to check out the link.

Jury Duty
Board: Television: After the Show Ends

Thread Board (disabled)
The premise is as a followed:

Starring the other hottie in the movie The Notebook . . . James Marsden, he and several people have been summoned to answer to the call of their civil duty: Jury Duty.

Or have they?

From the very start you know that everyone but Ronald Gladden is an actor. Ronald is your average, easy- going, good guy. Just a guy doing his civil duty. So, when he not only lands on a fake jury of a fake case, he lands the part of juror foreman, it’s open crazy season on him.

Having said enough, on to my Kitty Paws:

One and Half Kitty Paw for the entire staff. I mean, they nailed their parts. The nerd is the nerd. Lady Ga-ga girl is lady gaga girl. Even the bailiff . . . just applause.

One Kitty Paw for the originality of this show. I mean, he was obviously told that they were going to do some type of documentary but it’s not a documentary . . . it’s a mockumenty and it’s great.

One Kitty Paw for the show’s true star, Ronald. The real victim in this case.

Now having said all of this, this show is not going to be appealing to everyone one. It’s not. It’s like a slow and roll and you gotta watch it to catch all the people’s idiosyncrasies. People’s idiosyncrasies is what this show is really about.

You can stream this gem of a show on Amazon Prime.

Looks like it'll be a train-wreck of a show.

I guess I'm old now.
Where are the stars?
Lance Armstrong is the only one I've heard of.

Oh, and the daughter from Modern Family.
She's changed her looks.

We watched it, it was ok for pointless summer entertainment. Tallulah (she helped out the football player inside while the rest were outside putting up the antenna) - is Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter. Thanks for pointing out Ariel Winter - would not have recognized her.

I watched it only because of William Shatner. It’s hard to believe he’s 92, and his voice hasn’t changed at all.

I only knew those same three, but figured that’s because I’m not a football fan! I was happy to see Tallulah; her family is facing some difficult times, you can only wish them well.

I’ve seen that. It’s one of a whole series of monologues called “Talking Heads” by Allan Bennett. They are all really wonderful.

The first series was done years ago, don’t remember when. Then a second, more “recent” series was done by different actors doing the same monologues.

I should add all of them or at least most of them are also on youtube.

He is the playwright portrayed in this movie. Based on true events.

If the link doesn’t work for any weird reason the movie is The Lady In The Van with Maggie Smith.

I will listen to youtubes while I am at work. I love the history ones, as, unless they are touring old sites, they have only paintings and other static images, so I can just listen.

One time, I was listening to an entire series on Henry VIII with individual ones for him and each of his wives.

Makes the work more enjoyable.

I listen to the old radio dramas at night while going to sleep for the same reason, you can just listen.

And if you do a search for "sleep sounds" you can get the same thing for free that people pay for on those apps. There's one that is 8 hours of uninterrupted rain sounds with no ads. And that's with the free version of Youtube.

Interesting about the rain! Thanks!

Years ago, before all the streaming, I used to check out from the library cassette tapes of Jack Benny's radio show. I would listen while rubber stamping and crafting. I love that show.

I also like to listen to Librivox. People volunteer to read books in the public domain.

Some of them are not that good, but Elizabeth Klett is amazing!

When my husband was still working nights, I would bring up Elizabeth reading Jane Austen as I fell asleep.

Sometimes I listen to Librivox while at work. It's like reading a book while working.

Sometimes I listen to Librivox

I've tried that. I'll have to look for Elizabeth Klett. Some of the readers are not good.

I remember the Jack Benny show on television when I was a kid. Gawd I'm old. It would be soooo politically incorrect now. The radio show also I guess.

I like the radio mysteries, detective stuff, CBS Mystery Theater, spooky stuff.

So, I did not intend to check out this show though I had seen good reviews for it prior.

I was actually checking out the re-boot of Fraiser, when I ran out episodes and Paramount decided to click it over for me.

Released in 2202 from Australia comes Collin from Accounts.

The premise is as follows:

While still brooding over her ex, Ashley runs late for medical class. As such, as she is hurrying to class, a strange dog is taking himself for a walkie, and as she stops and flashes a driver for letting her pass, the driver betwixed by the actual boob, hits the dog.

Together they hurry the dog to a vet Gordon knows and used to date. Then just as they are going to put the dog down, Ashley has a change of heart and to their shock, they learn that it will cost $12,000 to fix the dog. Well, mostly fix.

At this point neither Ashley nor Gordon is prepared to the care for the dog, so they do their best to figure things out. However, after Ashley gets kicked out for having the dog, she moves in with Gordon until she can get something more permanent going, and the show goes from there.

Having said more than enough, on to my Doggy Paws:

One Doggy Paw for connection between Gordon and Ashley. Granted they are married in real life, but their character connection is wonderful to watch.

One Doggy Paw for the writing. There is no shortage of wit in this show.

One Doggy Paw for the cringy parts. Life is full of cringy parts, both inner and outer parts and these two kinda put it out there.

One Doggy Paw for the supporting characters. From creepy mom's boyfriend to unrealist millennials, they are all there.

So, at 4 Doggy Paws, I highly, highly recommend Collin From Accounts. Who is Collin, you ask? Well, they didn't want to give their new dog a standard dog name, so they named him Collin from Accounts.

Can be streamed on Paramount and in some places, Amazon Prime.

csk

P.S.
The old Fraiser is much better than the new Fraiser.

Answered in order of questions:

I don't know.

I watched the whole season. Berlin is going to cry. This makes me happy.

Yes. I would like 60 million dollars in unmarked and non-traceable quaters. A box, small and teal, with the words TIFFANY & CO. on it, containing something size 7 with diamonds and a large London blue topaz. World peace, looking at you China and Russia, and the end of animal abuse but also abuse in general.
