Batty was missing from Phantom Forest in Manchester, MO for a while, but he's back now in a slightly new location if you're looking for a Halloween Hike. His clue and Ghosty's clue have both been updated.
Bow hunting in 4 St Louis county parks

Deer hunting to thin the herds is allowed from Nov 7-30 in 4 county parks. The parks are Queeny, Jefferson Barracks, Creve Coeur, and Greensfelder. Visitors are asked to be careful, and to stay on marked trails. I was going to try doing some maintenance on my Queeny boxes, but as they take you off trail, I will wait until Dec.

Virginia Bluebells are currently blooming on this trail at Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville. There are not a lot of them, but they're kinda rare.

If you're heading down that trail, you may want to check gatewayletterboxers.org thoroughly first for an extra clue :-)

My other favorite hike is at Indian Camp Creek Park just north of Wentzville, where there are currently wide swathes of Blue-eyed Mary in bloom. Unfortunately, my box there disappeared but you can use this clue to get to the right trail.

I have renamed "Better Than a Klondike Bar" to be called "Engagement Bluff" to hopefully entice more of you out there :-)

My daughter got engaged there exactly one year ago today and they hiked out again to remember the moment. I think they were a bit disappointed that only two had found it since then. I don't recommend it during extreme heat and buggy season, but maybe put it on your radar for fall? They'll be married by this time next summer!

Thank you everyone! I would especially like to thank all of you who created the clever boxes that I found along the way, which in turn, kept me going to find just one more. Special thanks also to those who hiked the trails with me, even though I may have slowed you down to my turtle pace.
Weekend Trip to St. Louis

My wife and I are thinking about a weekend trip to St. Louis this year. Any recommendations on places/areas to stay that are close to some letterboxing? Or good places to plant a box or two :)

There are lots of great boxes in St Louis and i think it's a fun city to visit. Bellefontaine Cemetery is a good choice. It has several really nice series of stamps in it. Just don't plant your own there, as requested in the clues for those series. There's another cemetery close by with additional boxes in it where you could plant a box. Forest Park is a fun park to visit and there's a visitor's center with maps and bathrooms. There are several other parks in the St Louis area that also have higher concentrations of boxes and are nice parks. One of them is Queeny Park. I've gone boxing in St Louis for a couple days from time to time and I usually pick an area of the city to focus on and find a hotel nearby.

Thanks! Bellefontaine jumped out as I was skimming the clues, so we will definitely try to go there. I think we are trying to stay near Forest Park because it seems like there is a lot to do there. Can't wait to start charting out our boxing plan!

there MIGHT be a lot at Forest Park. There was much burning done and many boxes were not checked on. Many there are not maintained by visitors to the area, SO check the comments and finds of each carefully.

City Museum is a must visit for me. And there should be a couple boxes, I'd love to hear if anyone finds them. Forest Park is also pretty fabulous and give Imo's pizza a try.

Major storm damage closes St Louis cemeteries

Bellefontaine and Calvary Cemeteries in St Louis, MO are temporarily closed. More than one hundred large trees have blown over or are severely damaged. The local news tonight indicated it may be weeks before the cemeteries are reopened. This is a heads up to any letterboxers who may be planning a trip here to find the many beautiful boxes located in either place.

That's so awful - to lose all those beautiful, mature trees, and to have possibly damaged some stones and monuments...
๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญHoping for minimal loss/damage & a quick recovery. Thanks for sharing this!

Hope to get out and do a maintenance check in the near future.

So sad.. I do hope the clean up is going well. We also sustained damage in our part of Illinois. Trees down, homes damaged, no power for several days were some of the issues. It is almost two weeks later and things are looking better every day.

I'm going to pull most of these on Tuesday and replant them in other states as I travel. They have had little action since the Eclipse event in 2017. So if you haven't gotten them yet, make your way out there this weekend! Here is one of the series and there are a bunch more. Some were retired right after the event and returned to their homes.
