And if you happen to get to Liverpool, I have a carve there:

Actually there are a couple.
I know of Germany
Scotland
New Zealand
Pretty sure there's an Isle of Man exclusive site.
If you delve deep enough you can find many many lost clues. You just have to work to get them.

Boxing in London / Edinburgh
Board: Country: United Kingdom

Hi-
I should have asked sooner... but I am flying to London tomorrow and will be visiting London, Stone Henge, and Edinburgh. Has anyone letterboxed there? I see some letterboxes listed here on line but am wondering if anyone has found good clues online for boxes planted by locals?
Thanks!
Erin

We only knew of one at Stonehenge when we were there and it was definitely missing. Haven't been lucky enough to get to Edinburgh but some of the London's were missing.....still we found enough to keep us happy! Have a WONDERFUL time!

This may a bit late but there is a site at http://www.gamblenet.me.uk/clues_list.asp which lists UK letterboxes. It is supposed to be searchable for members, but I cannot find a search function. There is at least one box listed for Edinburgh and several others in Scotland. You just have to step through 40+ pages of boxes.

skootch and I will be in Edinburgh for part of the Festival in August, and I wanted to pick up a box or two (really doesn't look like there are many) while there, and we'd like to plant like, 5 new boxes.
With the UK being very advanced in CCTV, we don't want to look like we're planting bombs, how do we work around this? I'm keen on planting in cemeteries, and have found a couple off the beaten path that might do well. From the boxes I've seen clues for, I think we'll be lucky if the boxes ever get any hits on them, at all. Any tips for keeping them in play longer?
I'd like to do one or two magnetic boxes, but they're not exactly watertight (Altoids containers), and Scotland is, well, a bit more damp than MN is. Thoughts? Or, again, would a black spray-painted magnetic box look like a bomb, and get cleared out?
In any case, I'm thinking small. One reason is it needs to fit in luggage, and another is easier to hide well. I have to admit, I love me the urban box, but with limited boxing culture, there will be pretty much no one to check on them (until I can save enough to go over there, again), and I don't like being a litterboxer. Maybe if we plant several, it might generate enough interest to get folks to go over there?
Being good ambassadors of the Minnesota Carving Consortium is important to skootch and I, so we want to do it right.
TIA!

I have planted many boxes in the UK and never was concerned about being found on CCTV or considered a bomb threat. Boxes do go missing all the time in the USA and in the UK. We also would take small boxes, thinking we would not have that many finders ( so no reason to have a big logbook) and we wanted something small in luggage. So happy that you are planting more boxes in the UK

Hello folks,
It's been a few years since I've done any letterboxing but having just retired, I plan to change that! I was wondering whether anyone else is active in the UK these days?
Cheers, Desperate Dan

They (markandsue) have done several boxing trips to Dartmoor. They might be in touch with someone who is still active......

Or you might be able to get in touch with someone through this site.

There *are* boxes to find in the UK, some listed here on AQ.

Desperate Dan, my twin sister Ukusa still boxes. Granted she usually is doing it outside the country. 😊

I have not letterboxed for a while, but have not given up completely. Unfortunately I have lost touch with some of those I meet down here.

The further north the better. We're in the Scottish Highlands and visit parts of northern England occasionally but only very rarely get further south. Since moving up here from Surrey, we've only visited Dartmoor once but I do plan another visit at some time.
I'm guessing that the Dartmoor 100 club is still going strong, though we stopped getting the catalogue and updates about 10 years ago.

UK Letterboxing - Facebook group
Board: Country: United Kingdom
Jan 20, 2019 2:00pm
I wanted to create an additional place for UK letterboxers to be able to share trips, share photos, share new stamps they are carving, ask advice and generally chat to other like-minded letterboxers in the UK.
I have created a Facebook page and would love to welcome new members who have an interest in contributing or simply enjoying what others have posted.
It is a closed group (in order to prevent our much loved hobby becoming too public) but can be found under the name “ UK Letterboxing”.
It would be great to see some new members. Please pass along to other letterboxers who you feel may benefit from this too!
Lauren :)

Does anyone have an old catalogue they can check for me?
I am trying to track down a clue for a listing on AQ but the clue was only in the Catalogue. The box was planted in 2004. I have my Catalogue from Spring 2011 and it is not in that one. It is 37106 and at ~5486 if looking at the grid sorted list (it could be a little lower or higher depending on where actually planted).

Anyone in England or Wales still on here and Letterboxing? Or has everyone put away their stamps forever. . .maybe moved on to geocaching or Munzee or such as they are much more active? Just trying to see who is still around. . .

Howdy TeamKing, hope you are doing well!
A few years ago I placed several boxes all over the UK during a cruise around it, so maybe some are near you. Clues are on LBNA.
Hope you find some other boxers over there.

My family is heading to England/Scotland this summer. I am the only boxer. So hoping to find some amazing locations or hike or restaurants… that happen to have a letterbox. I’m busy reading clues. Would love any tips.
I read all the posts back to 2017. Thanks!

I am heading to England this spring. I have boxed in a few different countries. I always look near the hotel. Plus attractions and other locations we will be going to. This has worked for me in Australia, New Zealand, Iceland etc. Although, I don’t make it a top priority to find a box because seeing a new country and seeing as much as I can comes first. If I find only one box, I’m find with that.
