You'll need a translator, but here is a source for letterboxing in the Netherlands:

A General question
We are plannig a trip to Holland and I hope to do some letterboxing when we are there.
I noticed that there are only a few boxes in Holland. Are there other sites like Atlas Quest where I can find boxes or is letterboxing just not that popular overseas?

Perhaps with the exception of England, there aren't a whole lot of letterboxes at all in Europe. And the ones that are there seem to mostly be planted by people from elsewhere who visit it. *shrug*

If there aren't enough boxes to find, though, do what I do--plant some instead! =)

Yeah, plant them near the Wyndham Apollo Hotel Amsterdam
Apollolaan 2, 1077 BA Amsterdam, Netherlands or near Hotel Novotel Den Haag World Forum
Johan de witlaan 42, 2517 JR Den Haag, Netherlands...cause those are the places I might be in Holland. :-)

Okay I'll try, but not sure we will get to Den Haag unless we go to Madurodam.
BTW I love Sarah Vowell, been listening to her for years on NPR.

Agreed! we still have one left that remains from a small series we did several years ago. Last check - two years ago- it's still snugly in place. You'll need a car from Amsterdam - but it's a short drive and a pleasant, historic area. Hint- hint- it's where we like to visit when we go.
Have fun - and let us know how it went.
Dag, Girlguides
P.S. Madurodam is very fun, even for adults - and after you visit gives you claiming rights to have visited at least half the country.

And finally, after almost six years, someone has found it. Yeah!

Hello DtNL!
That's the same way I discovered Letterboxing several years ago, but I just letterbox now!
Atlas Quest will teach you most of what you need to know - start with the drop-downs on the "Home" page ("about Letterboxing" and "getting started", "code of conduct", etc) to learn what it's all about. Then if you look again on the "Home" page at the "Letterboxes" title with the drop-down "simple search", type in "Netherlands" and you'll see that there are already some boxes in your country. Hopefully some will be close to where you are. It's a good idea to look for a few boxes to get the idea of how they're set up and hidden, before you start to hide your own. You'll probably see some similarities between geocaching and letterboxing, but what I prefer about letterboxing is that you need to follow a clue rather than a gps, and that the "prize" when you find the box is often a wonderful hand-carved stamp image for your logbook! Letterboxing also takes you to some lovely locations that you may never have seen otherwise.
Hope this helps, and have fun Letterboxing!

Welkom - we love letter boxing in the Netherlands. There are not many outside Amsterdam and we try to contribute everytime we visit. Look for three new boxes to be posted in the next week.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions - this is a friendly group and will do all they can to help.

Apparently, this website http://www.letterboxen.nl/ has been reused. There’s no information on letterboxing, but a commercial website for project management.

I suppose if you were proficient in the ways of the Wayback Machine (I'm not) you could probably drudge the original site.

Many things computer-related don't make sense to me. 😕

Most computer related things I have no problems with but that is not one of them.
