So my sister and Brother-in-law are moving to Kenya for a few months (with an organization, I believe their taking college kids). But my question is, are there any letterboxes in Kenya?

No idea. I do know a guy who knows a guy who wanted to plant a box somewhere else in Africa, though, and ran into this problem: Any container that would work as a letterbox would be too valuable, it would be promptly stolen. Your only chance of success would be to plant well-hidden and then figure out how to keep any citizens of that country from ever reading the clues, only visitors from other continents are allowed to read the clues.

Of course, I believe Kenya is considerably better off than that third world country, so perhaps letterboxes are more likely to survive there.

well I hadn't even thought of that. I had contemplated making one and trying to convince them to plant if for me...but I shall have to look into it more, It didn't even occur to me that the container would be valuable

I planted two boxes in Zimbabwe in 2001 and nobody's ever found them. =)

Only one box has had a known attempt on it, but the attempt was by the parents of a letterboxer rather than letterboxers themselves, so I'm skeptical about that attempt. It certainly might be missing after six years! But I need a better attempt than that before I mark it as retired.

Anyone headed to Zimbabwe anytime soon? ;o)
