Just curious, but what ink do you use for the clear emboss? I've been wanting to try something like this myself.

Versamark watermark stamp pad. It is a sticky ink, so I recommend washing your stamp immediately after you have finished all of your stamping. Even after several washes, some of my stamps are still sticky from using it, but sometimes that's the price of art. ;-)

I don't think you should rethink the process until you test it out first. It sounds like it will be neat if it works! I wouldn't trust other brands on mod podge, but stazon is pretty good about being permanent and not smearing when it dries. But I can't guarantee that. Good luck!

The same Versafine ink quality but the 'Clair' pigment is now deeper, stronger and brighter.

According to what see when I google, the Clair ink is just a “tweaked” version of the same inks.

resist

I want to use watercolor paper and do a resist. I don't want to use crayon, I want to have fine lines. Any suggestions for what to use? I saw a Clear - Resist Re-Inker 1oz, but not an ink pad for it. Even so, that wouldn't give me fine lines.

Thanks

Have you tried Ranger embossing pens and embossing in clear? The embossing pens usually come in a 2-pack with a bullet tip and a brush tip. If that isn't fine enough, maybe use a toothpick to apply clear embossing ink?

I suggest Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad with clear detail embossing powder.

will the embossing pens, without the powder provide a watercolor resist?

I don’t think so. It is the melted powder that provides the resist.

that is what I was afraid of. I am looking for something that will resist and leave the natural paper behind like a wax crayon, just finer. Maybe it doesn't exist.

If you search "masking fluid", you come up with many products that are liquid, and you could decide how to apply using something with a fine tip, or even put the liquid in a fine-tipped squeeze bottle, and apply it that way.

I found this video that demonstrates Ranger's Watermark Resist pad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dpau0iIcJE. I don't have that pad, but I can do the same thing with my Versamark pad.

I just now tried but didn't have much success with stamping an image on watercolor paper and painting over it with watercolors. I could see a bit of resist but that was it.

Here are a couple more suggestions:

-- Versamark & embossing powder, then put newsprint type paper over the image and iron it transferring the embossing powder to the newsprint type paper.

-- Use a white pencil to highlight image after watercoloring the image

Here is another video with some resist ideas:

Good luck!

Hello, I'm new to LTCs... So is my husband (Flame of Udun). We're both artists, so we decided to try making some for fun the other night. We're hoping we did it right... Not sure what we do beyond what the q&a told us. Are we supposed to post photos of what we create? Is that taboo? Wondering, because I have an art insta.
Anyway, we had fun making them and we're hoping to make more when we have some time! Advice/tips are appreciated. :)

Welcome! Send an AQ message to Linden Leaf, and she will send you an introductory package with guidelines for trading through trackers and sample cards. There are two more active Boards than the 'collective' one. Check out LTC Tips, Questions, and Stuff, and also LTC Trades & Trackers. We're a friendly bunch, and I look forward to seeing your art.

Also, you are welcome to post pictures of your own cards on Instagram, in a blog, on FB, or wherever you want. But if you create cards for a tracker, you might want to wait until the tracker participants have received their cards. Some people prefer to be surprised rather than see spoilers ahead of time. Also, you should not post pictures of anyone else's cards without their express permission.

Welcome! Glad you’re here and asking questions. As for “doing it right”, the hardest thing to figure out is the reusable envelope, and how to tape it for mailing! If of course, and I hope you will, join a swap. There is thankfully a tutorial on AQ somewhere about how to make one.
It’s fun to see everyone’s take on the same theme and you get to collect other people’s works of art. It’s a great hobby in itself.

That works for postals, and SOME LTC trackers (15+ cards or thick, lumpy, mixed media cards). But most LTC trackers currently are being mailed in a trading card page, inside a 9"X12" kraft envelope. The advantage of this method is that they are considered a "flat" by the USPS and mailing cost is much lower (usually 3 forever stamps), versus a padded mailer, which is a "first-class package" rate.

A long time ago, Chedva made a very helpful tutorial on taping up an envelope to make it reusable. The instructions are written for a bubble mailer, but it works with any type of envelope... manila, plain business envelope, etc.

Here's the link for anyone who might need it.

Hey, guys! Every month, Marjorie's Potpourri is listed....to help us all circulate and trade cards-not just our own, but any that we'd like to pass around. There is a reason they are called LTC'S- Letterboxing TRADING Cards! RIClimber has been kind enough to take over the responsibility of host from Green Tortuga, and it has had a very low participation rate lately. I encourage you all to jump in from time to time, and to encourage others-especially newbies-to this swap so it will be worth RIClimbers efforts to continue this monthly swap. Thank you!

Yes! Please join! Officially a 5 for 5 swap, but I add several of my own so everyone gets a couple extra. This is the only way to receive most of my newer cards.

I'm on a roll - trying to get some stuff finished... and I have a bunch that need to be re-homed and the easiest way is through trackers... I'll be adding a couple more before I'm done...

It's the only way to keep me out of trouble :)
