somebody emailed me a while back asking for information about the letterbox I left with a shopkeeper in Jerusalem. I don't remember who it was, so if that person was you, let me know and I will be glad to send more information!

I'm headed that way Thanksgiving day, and would love any information you have about your LB or any others in Jerusalem or the Galil...

Hopefully, I'll be able to bring back a very unique souvenier from the Land :-)

So fun! I loved my time there. I only have a moment, but I will write later with more information. The shopkeeper was wonderful to keep the box for me. I think it should still be there. He sent me a note a while back and stamped the letter with my LB stamp.

It seems like it has been quite a long time and not much action on this board. Does anybody know of any other letterboxes for Israel? Is there any other site to find clues to them on?

So far as I know, the only letterbox in Israel is the one listed on Atlas Quest. There's just not a lot of letterboxing activity in that part of the world, but if you are headed there yourself, by all means, plant a few! =)

Be especially considerate of security considerations when planting a letterbox there, though. *nodding* You definitely don't want people to mistake your box for something more sinister!

Boy, that's for sure! The Israeli Police would not take kindly to anything that even remotely looked like terrorist activity!

As an avid lber, I had my eye out both times I have been there for great places to plant lbs. Unfortunately, the touristy places are heavily trafficked (with guides that keep their eye out for suspicious behavior), and the out of the way places are, well, out of the way! A lot of tourists are on scheduled tours and don't get time to go looking for lbs. It is my opinion that it would take some serious word of mouth and seeding to get it started there.

The one lb that I know of in Israel is in a store, run by Arabs, I believe. I am sure the shop owner is very nice and wanting business. However, I did not get a chance to check it out either time I was close. :-(

this is why I planted that one in a shop. I just couldn't find anywhere to safely plant something that I couldn't imagine looking very suspicious in the current environment. When Baghdadi was so nice to me and I saw that he had allowed many people to leave notes on his board, I decided to ask him if I could leave the box. I don't think it would have worked another way. I hope it is still there. I know he sent me a note once and stamped my stamp in it.

Last time I looked, there was only one in the Land, and it was in a shop. I didn't check it out while I was there, but I've been told that the shop owner is very nice. Not sure if it is still there, though. Due to the fact that it probably doesn't get many visitors, I would be surprised if it were still viable.

I don't know that hiding LBs in Israel is such a good idea, and I don't know of any more available to find there.

Visiting? Have a wonderful time!

I was just looking into a trip (for a camp) to Yisrael this summer and happened to notice that someone recently listed 3 new boxes in Israel on LBNA:
http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=46276&boxname=On_the_Sea
http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=46277&boxname=Wailing_Wall

Just found this interesting,

I really hope you get to go to Israel & find all of these GREAT Boxes!

I know where ALL of these places are, unfortunately, I can't go to Israel right now. Hopefully in a couple of years, or so.

P.S. I was born in Tiberias, However, I've never had a chance, yet, to visit Sdeh Boker.

GOOD LUCK Boxing in Israel!

Agreed. :-) Just look at my previous post, it has links to I believe 2 boxes only listed on LBNA. Or you could just go to LBNA and find the clue listings, they are pretty easy to find if you know basic navigation of the site.

It's a Star Wars thing, you know. SHH and I are major Star Wars fans. We read the books, discuss the philosophy, and costume as Jedi with some international groups that help raise money for charity. She's the master, and I'm the padawan - that's like an apprentice. It describes who I am so much more than Triple T did.

Thanks for askin'!

Thanks for the explanation!

I liked star wars, at first. But, then it got a bit too complicated for me. & I have a hard time keeping up with all these "Foreign" names. At least now I'll always remember who & why the name 'PADAWAN'.

May the FORCE Be with you...
