Unless you count landing in Phoenix

Can I count changing planes in Chicago as being in IL? Actually I do count that because I was there even if only for a short time. :)

There has to be some sort of order. Not like I can do them all simultaneously! =) At least this way, it's easy for me to keep track of which themes I've done and which ones I haven't.

Where's the "whatever" button?

I need to get going on it because I only have till March 2013!

Not really.... Keep in mind that I have done a lot of themes well ahead of time so I have a built-up backlog and don't have to frantically throw something together the last day of each month. =) I've actually finished all of the themes through Illinois at this time. Indiana is problematic, though. I told Trekkie Gal I wasn't going to do an Indiana theme after she insulted me, but I get a feeling of incompleteness at the thought of skipping it. ;o)

Crud! This deadline keeps getting shorter and shorter! Do you even want pictures of Missouri? When do I need to send them?

the Kokopelli was the biggest source of contention when deciding on the Letterboxing Southwest patch, in spite of the fact it is EVERYWHERE, in the southwest (and in some other states as well). I'm surprised you haven't taken any flack for it Ryan.

A patch is a little more permanent than a theme. ;o)

And anyhow, it's more used as a "trim" than a "main feature" for the theme. (Which is why I forgot to even mention it in the about theme page, which Trekkie Gal brought to my attention! =)

Darned right I count landing in Phoenix! Because if you kept your eyes open, you probably saw that symbol in every shop, on the carpet, on the TV--they use it everywhere!

Perhaps you missed the part where I said I never got off of the plane! I was one of only two passengers that stayed on the plane for the rest of the flight to Burbank. That was a bit creepy. :l

As for the order that you did the state themes, to me it would have made more sense to do them in the order that each state was admitted to the union, putting Delaware first and Hawaii last. And Arizona third to last.

I told Trekkie Gal I wasn't going to do an Indiana theme after she insulted me

First of all, I insult you all the time, so there's nothing new there. You do the same to me. Second, I'm not the only boxer in Indiana, so don't punish everyone else just because you don't like me. You can leave me off of the list of boxers from Indiana on the 'About Theme' page if it makes you feel better. :)

You could always rank the states in order of what you think of them.

However, if that were the case you've already messed up #1

The funny thing is.... California already acts like it has. It claims I owe State Income tax for all the money I have earned while living in New Zealand. The result is that I can't afford to move back to the USA.

to me it would have made more sense to do them in the order that each state was admitted to the union, putting Delaware first and Hawaii last. And Arizona third to last.

Delaware always gets everything first. They got the first state quarter, and got to be the first state. And Hawaii always has to wait around to be last. Seems so unfair. It's about time to shake things up! =)

But really, the main reason for alphabetical is because it's easier for me to keep track of what I've what, what needs to go up next, and which theme to work on next. The states are automatically sorted alphabetically in the directory on my development machine. My computer has no idea what order the states were admitted to the Union, however!

As for a New Zealand theme.... there's no need to rule that out completely. There's a theme for Spain (La Tomatina), a theme for France (Bastille Day), a theme for the Netherlands (think that's set for the Queen's birthday).... While I have no plans to do a theme for every country, it's not out of the question that I might do other themes for other countries!

And anyhow.... the order of the states could just be a ploy to make sure everyone keeps using AQ--at least until their state has come and gone. If that's the case, the states with the most people would have to be displayed last! ;o)

Upload them as submissions to the annual letterboxing calendar. That's where a lot of these images have come from! ;o)

A friend and I always celebrate Waitangi Day - mostly because it has an interesting name and we knew little about it when we first saw it on a corporate calendar. Question for you as an expert: what is the appropriate salutation for Waitangi Day - "Happy Waitangi Day", "Merry Waitangi Day", or "Condolences to you on Waitangi Day" (depending on your tribal affiliation)?

I think Ryan should do the "A" states, then go to end of the alphabet and do the "W" states.

Then back to the front of the alphabet for the "C" states, etc.

Cool! I never heard of this before, but from reading about it in wikipedia it sounds like a pretty good greeting. I'll practice pronouncing it until next February - wikipedia even has an audio file to listen to.

Kokopelli

I was in a thrift store in Western NC today. There was a photo book with wood cover. Looks like something that could be turned into a log book. The front has a stylized eagle at the top and says "FBR OPEN" "Phoenix". At the bottom it says HONEYWELL and has a cactus on one side and Kokopelli on the other.

the "FBR Open" is the golf tournament that used to be called the "Phoenix open" before FBR, whoever they are, decided to sponsor the thing.

still, you gotta wonder how it got all the way to the far end of the country.
