Hmmm...
Board: Postcrossing, not Cross-posting!

I was attempting to register a postcard that I received from China. The ID number written on it in two places is CN-173039. However, that number was not recognized when I entered it, so I put in an unknown ID request to Postcrossing. But while looking at the cards from China that have recently been registered, the ID numbers are in the high 300000s. The card is got quite beat-up during its travels, and that ID number makes me wonder just how long it has been travelling!

P.S. Just did a quite search through the gallery on the website and found this card with an ID number not too far from the one that I received. It was sent in March 2010!! I'm wondering if it's possible that this card has been travelling for over a year?? If it has, I won't be able to register it. :(

Nope. There is no name on the card at all, which really frustrates me. I always write my first name and my username on the cards (although now I have to remember to write Trekkie_Gal instead of kjnohr). I had someone send me a message yesterday saying that I had not written the ID number on the card (personally I think he just didn't see it above his address). He was able to contact me directly for the number instead of waiting for Postcrossing to find it because he could look up my username.

Unfortunately, even though I sent the ID number not 5 minutes he sent his message, he still hasn't registered the card....

I got a message this message from Postcrossing:

Sorry that ID no longer exists on Postcrossing because it is over 365 days old.
It cannot be registered.

I wish I knew the sender's username. At least that way I could send them a thank you note. It's too bad that Postcrossing doesn't archive the expired postcards so they could at least tell me that info. Apparently they just get deleted completely.

I lost my old cross posting ID because I had dropped out for over a year, when I returned, not only could I not revive my old user name, but I could not use the same email address again!! Amazing. So I had to make up a new user name and use a different email address, luckily since I have a computer guy in the house, I can have a million different email addresses!!

Wow, that sucks. They don't delete accounts any more though. They just become 'inactive' so that if a person decides to come back, they don't encounter the problem you had.

I don't have a computer guy (or any guy) in the house, but I have two email addresses that go to the same inbox. ;)

PS I realized that since I changed my username, my 'business' cards are incorrect. So I just *had* to order some new ones from VistaPrint. :)
