Finding Local Letterboxers
Board: State: Colorado

Hi, I'm new to letterboxing and I live in Colorado Springs. Is there anyone in the Springs willing to help me get started. I've found 12 this week, (my first week), but I feel a bit lost on the web sight and unsure of planting a box.

Welcome to the Hobby!!! I'm from California, but I just wanted to welcome you. I'm sure someone local will contact you.

Welcome! Check in the Boards tab for a specific board for Colorado. You can post something there and hopefully find someone local to show you the ropes. Happy boxing!

It's been a bit quiet lately on all the boards (summer outdoor weather and all that), but even when it's a bit more active, you'll find many CO boxers don't hang out on the AQ boards, but rather the Yahoo! Regional Talk list Try posting over there too as well as poking around. Ya just never know when ...umm... "interesting" stuff might pop up. :-)

Having said that, no matter where you are, it's very important to read up on all the FAQs, tutorials, history sections, etal on this and all the 'boxing sites as far as planting boxes and so on.

Here are a few others to know about:

Newboxer talk list

letterboxing.info

Getting Started on LbNA It's getting close to being out of print, but if you can find a copy even at your library, do try and get your hands on a copy of Randy Hall's book (info on this link)

Hope these help, and welcome to the addiction!~

Corrrection to my PREvious post: The 2nd link meant to be for the Newboxer's list was a duplicate link to the Rocky Mtn Yahoo list.

Here's the correct link for Newboxers list

As an aside to Pre's message about the Yahoo group - yes, there are some folks (some Colorado Spring folks, too!) who hang out there more than at AQ, but I also think you'll find that the Colorado folks just aren't a hugely chatty group online. The Yahoo group is even (in my opinion) quieter than the AQ boards.

One recommendation for you to find other nearby boxers is to look at the clues for C Springs boxes, see who planted the box, click on their profile and see if they list C Springs as their locale! Then just send them AQ mail introducing yourself. :)

I've done that many times, and have "met" many great boxers that way.
Cheers, and welcome to the Rockies!

Welcome to our quiet community!

The Colorado boxers are a pretty private group, as Autumn has said. However, there are a couple of us out here who frequent the boards pretty regularly.

What questions do you have exactly? Fire away, and we will see if we can help, or direct you to the correct place on the boards for an answer.

Usually if there is going to be some sort of gathering, it will be posted here and on the yahoo list as well so you can be appraised of upcoming events.

I'm in Littleton too and just found started on our letterboxing adventure after reading the article in the Post. Where's the Yahoo list you mention events sometimes get posted on.
