I do know what you mean. I am close to 1000 and thought I would make it by years end, but alas there weren't enough near the funeral homes for me to finish!!
Next year very soon. Sandy

How far are you willing to drive jeevsie? I just did a search of indoors boxes within a 75 mile radius of me and there are 25 boxes I haven't found in that area...road trip?

I am off work this week, but I don't know if I am going to get to box at all :( Mr. Wingrider is off as well, and I don't think we will be riding that Goldwing anywhere. We spent yesterday cleaning out our basement, today was spent with our grandson -- tomorrow is more chores .... is winter over yet??? :((

We don't even have the dubious pleasure of snow...we're just cold and wet over here in the SW corner....bleh!

Sandy, maybe they have room for one more in the car. Of course, you would probably make them stop every few miles to look for a letterbox... -Rose

Are you suggesting that Chris can make it on his own for 2 months. I think not. Who would pay the bills and do the cooking???? Maybe a good diet plan however. ;O)

We woke up this morning to a fresh layer of snow over the old layer! We won't be letterboxing any time soon.
But the real purpose I jumped on here was to wish everyone a very safe and happy new year.

You could do what we talked about in Oregon the one day it snowed. Start turning snowmen into letterboxing spots..you know under the hat, in the nose etc(yew) or inside so the box reveals itself as it melts(actually that probably isnt such a great idea ...maybe that could be a bonus box. Happy new year to you too -storm rider-

Speaking of doing strange things with snowmen...
Last time it snowed our neighbor made a snowman that looked like it was swimming and behind it he made 4 little shark fins. (ala Calvin & Hobbs!) He even tinted the surrounding snow blue.
I haven't been out to see what he made this time.

OK, that is just cool! My kids have recently discovered Calvin and Hobbes and can't wait to get enough snow to do something fun. I'll pass this along to them.

Re Calvin and Hobbes snow gallery
Thanks Stacey!
Absolutely made my day....wishing for a significant snow here in Cinci now....we even have a stump--and could convince the resident garden gnome to move off of it temporarily for artistic endeavors :)

Let it be known that jeeves, MHD and wingriders do not let a little bit of ice, snow, frigid temps or mystery clues stop them?! Noooooo! They have earned their Ohio polar bear LB patches today! I will vouch for their tenacity and perseverance (insanity)! =D
Congrats to all 3 of you ladies!!

After knowing your mother for over 25 years I should have known when she said "indoor boxing" that this would extend to outdoors in 17 degree weather. The only thing I can say is ... "I am not worthy... I am not worthy... I am not worthy!!!!" She no longer has an itch -- she has frostbite!!

Being a newbie I can only say that when I got home I took a hot bath and made steam in the bathroom. That's what happens when a big block of ice mixes with hot water. I wasn't even the one who was marching through the Memorial with a cell phone frozen to my ear. That would be Jeeves. I wish I would have had a video camera!!!

Details...details...well, I'm in the middle of making/eating soup and still thawing out, but Jenny's right. Jeeves wins the LB MVP today, hands down!
We started the day with a plan to "scratch" jeeves' letterboxing itch by going for just indoor boxes. I didn't even wear my heavy coat because we were just going to be indoors. And we were...until we hit a certain library and saw a certain set of crosses all lined up in nice neat rows...kind of like a grid and it hit me! This must be Mn8X's box with the really cool clues! Sure enough, jeeves had the clues in her trusty (thick) book of clues...that are all organized by city by the way!
So we went for it, with jeeves and me starting off down the hill (almost falling) and Jenny staying in the car to keep the motor running so we could come and thaw out when needed. After figuring out about 20 or so letters and picking my fingers up off the ground a few times, we headed back to the car to re-think our strategy.
Jeeves then spotted a closer parking spot...that insurance guy is going to wonder who was tromping around his driveway on Monday!
Now we could be closer to the car to thaw out, but no, now jeeves has an even better idea! One person (jeeves...since she was already bundled like Ralphie's little brother...you could just barely see her eyes after Wingriders tied her into her scarf!) would go out and read letters to the other two people in the car via CELL PHONE!!! I take back any of my "I hate technology" comments! This was brilliant!
So...we got the letters slowly but surely and made complete sense of the clues...
only to find...
yup, you guessed it...
it was 17 degrees out for cryin' out loud!
The dang thing was frozen into its hiding spot!!!!
And my good letterboxing shovel back in the cozy warm closet at home with the rest of my outdoor letterboxing stuff! RATS!!!
But determination, tenacity, a couple of long sticks, 6 muddy knees, an ice scraper, a call to TT to make sure it was even still there, a bit of ice in our hair, and a good dose of insanity all paid off...WE GOT IT!!!!!!
And, my, oh my...what a box. If you haven't traveled this way yet, you simply must...BLUE DIAMOND for sure!!!
What really got us is that one of the markers in the memorial was for none other than Matt Maupin. Many of you remember the sign we stamped in on at TT's Veteran's Day Event for Matt's parents.
Also wonderful to see Lizard Lovers stamp in the logbook from just a few weeks ago in November. Sigh...
So, there...can I go eat my soup now? Is that enough details for ya? :)
Your frozen, but faithful reporter...
