4L Event

What a wonderful day of letterboxing and lunching !!!

We met up at the Visitors Center as planned at 9 am. Charlie Seeker decided he didn't want to tromp around the trails at Latta.... that he thought he would stay home until lunch !! He apparently knows his priorities !!! *LOL*
Hornicorn and I letterboxed a little bit on the way there..... getting the first box before it was even daylight.... and a couple of others to get us started.
We met up with
Ellie from Belmont Bunch (who ended up having to leave us and return to eat lunch with us later.)
Carolina Wine Trail, who went a totally different direction leterboxing than the rest of us.... and also meeting up with us just in time for lunch.
World Traveler, who chauffered 4 of us in her Prius. What a treat it was to have someone else do the driving and such a nice quiet ride.
Shoafsters, who was waiting in the parking lot looking at her watch when we pulled in !!
Snavefree, who drove up from Piedmont SC to Letterbox with us and was right on time, clues ready to go... and all in plastic sleeves. These folks are PREPARED !!!
We left the parking lot just a few minutes after 9.
We found EVERY box we searched for !! Some of them were newer plants, so we even logged a few ourselves.
We called Charlie about noon to remind him that lunch was at 1 and we'd be hungry...... so not to keep us waiting !!
Before we knew it.... here comes THE SEEKER MOBILE .... beeping and waving... well, the mobile wasn't waving.... Charlie was... *LOL*
We headed back to the visitors center.... all satisfied with a good "half day" of boxing.
Ellie called... said she was at the restaurant and was getting us a table.
Carolina Wine Trail called and said they were already on their way to the restaurant. So off we went to lunch.
All the rave reviews we had gotten about Lancasters were TRUE !! We all enjoyed our meals.
Wanda (Carolina Wine Trail) sat at one end of the table... and me wayyyy down to the other end. This wasn't planned, but did work out to our advantage at certain times throughout the meal when she wanted to say something to me and "Yelled" Isn't that right, Mama Wolf?
I think perhaps Mama Wolf might consider keeping a "LIST" as well ????
Hmmmmmmm.... Something to think about.....

We had a nice visit... exchanged PTs, etc.... and parted ways.
Just as we were saying our goodbyes.... and waving to our friends..... TWO... not one... but TWO Char/Mech police cars pulled into the parking lot.
We're not sure who called them...... (Whew... good thing they think I'm Mama Wolf.... I have nothing to worry about)
We walked innocently to the car and drove away......
Just as we were getting into the car..... Carolina Wine Trail called.... "Hello Dina B.... we saw the cops pulling in just as we were leaving.... called to check and see if y'all were OK".....
*LOL*

Hornicorn and I letterboxed a little bit more on the way home... made a quick stop for ice cream... and we're HOME.

Thanks for a great event...
Even though the boxes we still needed out at Latta took us down different trails from the rest of the group, we did enjoy meeting up with you first thing this morning, seeing old friends again, and meeting a few new ones.

Our boxing adventures included a four foot long "guardian" along one trail, a first for us -
we had walked down the trail, found the box we were seeking, and on the way back there lay a black snake midways the trail. Brian assisted him over to the side with a 5 ft. stick, lol... while I scurried on past.

We stumbled upon a geocache - had seen a hollow log that looked like a good place to plant a letterbox, until we looked inside and found a plastic tube with a stuffed animal in it. No identification on the tube. So, we went off to look for another place for our next box.

We enjoyed a great lunch, good fellowship with good friends...
and, a bit of joking around about Exactly WHO Dina B. was... I guess for today she was AKA Mama Wolf, rofl. And the lists of banished establishments continues...lol.

As we were leaving we noticed the two police cars pulled into the other end of the parking lot. I hurried & called Dina... she had escaped just in time, but did have the "alias" ready just in case it was needed. Of course, we weren't sure of Freebird's whereabouts... so, we do hope you are fine, and Still Free. ;)

We headed out in search of more boxes before dark, finding 4 more - 3 of them were "the Seekers 1108" boxes... the last being our 400th find. :)

We just got home, settled in with a glass of wine & are getting ready for a movie.

I'm so glad that ya'll had a good time, I so wanted to be there but just couldn't make.

I know exactly where that geocache is!!!!!!!! The day that turtlelove and I boxed there (Latte) we were walking on the trail and I said Hold up a minute, There is a letterbox in the hollow end of that tree, let me get it..... and it WAS something in it not a LB but a geocache. Boy was I surprised. It was later on the same day that we ran into a swam of Ladybugs.

I thought about ya'll throughout the day, like how warm it was, and when the sun peeked out, that it was a perfect day for boxing.

I did figure out a NC Mystery box today that's 4 hours way.

Then I watched Night of the Living Dead. An oldie goldie for sure.

At least, you got ladybugs later, although I know you don't like them - but, we ran across a snake. Almost totally across him. :(

hahaha That is what it looks like , now that you mention it.
Actually there was a letterbox tucked up under that rock.... but the ground around the tree settled or caved in or whatever..... that box was barely reachable.... and I had to dig with a big stick under there to get it. When we replaced it, We put more rocks underneath it and propped it up. Hope it lasts a while longer...
