So I thought I would try something new... my most recent LTC has several layers, and since I always manage to get glue stick glue just about everywhere, I thought I'd try Elmer's spray adhesive to see if the process would go faster and/or cleaner. Well... I am sure many of you can already deduce the result of the latter.

I am currently typing, feeling my fingers stick to the keys. As I look down at my hands, I have not only my own hair stuck to my fingers, but also my dog's. I was planning on knitting this evening, but I don't see that working out so well.

How on earth am I supposed to get this stuff off my hands?!?!?!? I've tried washing my hands about 8 times; I've tried liquid hands soap, bar soap, shampoo, dish detergent, nail polish remover and even vinegar! Seriously, how does one get this off?

The back of the can says rinse with lots of water... yeah. whatever. that's so not enough!!

I'm so sorry. I can't stop giggling. I'm perpetually dog hair afflicted and I can only imagine your predicament too well! I'm also sorry to flaunt that I *did* get to knit this evening.

I would use Goo Gone, but I'm guessing that you would have already tried that if you had it. Hmmm..... Goo Gone is kind of oily, so maybe some type of oil-based product would help????? Good luck, I hope you figure out something!

Get out the veggie oil and apply liberally. Let set. Now this is going to sound terrible. Put a small amount of granulated sugar in the palm of your hand and work into the oil. Now add a small amount of dish soap and rub that together. Run sink water to nicely warm and add a few drops of warm water working it into a lather using small amount of water as needed.

This should start the breakdown process. You may need to repeat, again the oil first is so vital... sugar will be the abrasive.... soap and water washes it all away.

Make sure to use some nice lotion afterwards. Your hands will feel wonderfully smooth and silky.

Wowzers - that is one serious treat for the hands!
Not only is the sticky glue all gone, but it's worked just like this oily-scrub DH bought me for Xmas one year... at $50 a pop, I wasn't wanting to buy it again, but now, this is my new at home substitute!

You're very welcome. Now, besides your hands, if you would love to treat yourself to a wonderful pedicure, soak your feet in a wonderful warm footbath. Apply that same treatment to your feet and always remember to follow with a lovely moisturizing lotion! Your feet will sing!!!!

Now... for that sticky substance on your faucet.... being a hard surface you can use veggie oil, you may need to reapply a couple times, but that should remove it too! Ever get home with a product and there is a stubborn label that won't come off completely.... veggie oil it!!!!

Awesome, eh?!? Due to a lack of veggie oil in our house, I actually substituted olive oil, but figured that would only help bring out my inner Cleopratra-ness. Heavenly.

We use spray adhesive all the time without getting sticky, so we'll try to help.

First, you should have a place to spray that allows for over spray. We use an open box (24" x 18") with one of the longer sides removed. These leaves you with a bottom, back and two sides.

Second, have scrap paper that you can place on the bottom of the "spray box". Then you place the items you want to glue on this. Sometimes you may need to hold down the paper with a tacky piece of tape or an instrument to keep it from blowing away when you spray. (we'll get to that next)

We use a bamboo skewer to hold down our little pieces. This allows our hands to be clear of the spray and prevents the small pieces from blowing over. When you spray, start off the object and sweep across to the other side. (yes this wastes spray, but prevents "blobs of glue" or miss sprays. Usually a single sweep is enough. You do not want to much glue.

Now the trick is picking up the item. We use the bamboo skewer again. It is usually perpetually sticky, so it works like a frogs tongue. You just dab it to the item's back and lift. We carefully transfer the item to the area we want to paste it to, and if necessary use a pair of tweezers to position. Now you just rub it down with a paper towel.

No glue on you. Yay!

Now if you do get the glue on you, almost any nail polish remover will take it off; goo off takes it off, and pumice soap easily takes it off. However, you can have adverse skin reactions to the glue and cleansers/solvents. I recommend using rubber glues if the problem persists.
