life with a 1-year-old - he stole my carver

I've been going insane the last few days, and I needed to vent, and I figured that if anyone would understand it was this forum.

I've lost my #1 carver - I think either my kitten or my 1-year-old walked off with it. It's gone. I've searched everywhere. And then I get in the mood to carve, get out my Katamari stamp and start groaning at the lack of a #1 gouge.

I've ordered two #1's from Stampeaz (thanks Webfoot), but they won't get here until tomorrow or Thursday and I want to carve NOW! :-)

Why didn't you warn me that this was going to be so addicting. Is there a 12-step program? I look at every picture, every plant, everything in my environment and think "I could carve that if I just..." But I've learned that it's hard to carve anything with just a #5 gouge. Maybe I should learn from Kirbert and use an exacto, but I'm sure I'd cut myself.

Actually my first carve was with an exacto knife because I couldn't wait to get started and an eraser and exacto was all I had on hand to use. Give it a try if you have not already, you may find new possibities open up to you.

Take a wood pencil and pull the eraser off with pliers. Then use the pliers to carefully squeeze the metal ring that held the eraser into a small V shape. It won't carve well, but you might be able to fool yourself long enough for your order from Webfoot to arrive.

You also might want to have the number for the after hours vet and the urgent care clinic handy.

Why didn't you warn me that this was going to be so addicting.

Stand up, take a sloooooow, deep breath, and repeat after me:

Hello, my trailname is (insert here) and I am addicted to carving.

I first started carving stamps as part of my other addiction, known as letterboxing. Since I started, I have experienced periods of staring at rubber for hours and hours at a time. Although, I may be frightened to admit it...

*deep breath*

...I enjoy cutting rubber for self pleasure. There, I SAID IT! I think the first step to healing is admitting I have a problem. I hope I am around enough smart and mature individuals.......

*long pause*

...and wassa... to be comforted and understood during this difficult time. I know that you are all equally obsessed or you would not be here today. I think we can all heal in time from this insane obsession of carving into rubber.

Thank you.

*sits down*

*whispers to neighbor* : phew... that felt good to get off my chest.

Addicted? No.

I am not addicted.

Really, I'm not.

I just do this for the kids. They have fun. So what if I have to coax them into going. They really like it! I just have to explain how fun it is to go to all the places the boxes take us.

Letterboxing addictive? No!

Carving addictive? No, I've only carved 5 stamps for others... and well have 5 stamps with nothing to do... 3 ready to plant... 11 already planted. I have been at this for awhile you know. A couple months at least.

Nope, Not addicted.

The Zoo... so NOT in denial ;)
