I am looking for some Southern California boxers-my aunt is really interested in starting it too, but can't find any boxes in her area at all.

None at all? Where in SoCal is she? I'm in Orange County and have planted and found a few around here and a few in the high desert.

She is between Santa Monica and Malibu. I don't know what county that is in.

There are quite a few listed on this site within 25 miles of Santa Monica (I think more than 50), not so many within 25 miles of Malibu (13). I guess it depends on how far she wants to travel :)

I know gas prices have been prohibitive in us getting out as much as we would like (yesterday's trip used up an even $20 in gas).

Oh, well, that's quite a distance from my neck of the woods. (It's LA County, I believe). I can't see any boxes in Santa Monica, but there are a couple listed on LbNA for Malibu (and one even states that it's between Santa Monica and Malibu-- sounds perfect!). And if you use the AQ city directory and click on Santa Monica, you can find the boxes that are in cities fairly nearby. Good luck to your aunt-- it would be great to get some more SoCal boxers! There's a SoCal Yahoo group as well if she's interested.

Griffith Park and Hollywood aren't that far away from Malibu and there are a bunch of letterboxes there! Or if you head on over towards Pasadena. I don't think it is that far! I drive over there from LAX when I am in town all the time and there are still boxes that I need to find over there!!

I will tell my aunt about the one on LBNA, but I don't think she is much of a driver. I think she uses public transportation most of the time, which probably limits her on anything as far away as your suggestions.

Thanks for the ideas though,

Your aunt lives in LA and doesn't drive? This does not compute....

When my sister lived in LA, she didn't drive either. We have a long history of nondrivers....
She's 78 years old (my aunt, not my sister) and used to live in a small village in Guatemala and now lives with her daughter. I beleive she walks into town every day to the book store. (she is also someone who buys books, reads them and then returns them)
