It would be nice if you had to click on the bar before they got in your way on the screen.

CSS doesn't having a "click" option, but you can disable the drop downs completely if you set your theme to http://www.atlasquest.com/css/nodropdowns.css

Then, when you want to navigate somewhere, you'll have to click the menubar buttons that will pull up a page that will get you where you want to go.

You can also try tweaking the CSS to make the drop down menus move somewhere else you find more convenient such as a horizontal layout.

I can see it too, and I like how the order is inverted for the bottom, so "My Page" is the bottom-most option. The gap that was inserted so the menus could drop down is still visible in Safari.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if people would prefer this way or the old way, so I wasn't taking out the gap until I was sure most people preferred the drop-ups. I kind of find the drop-ups to be weird to use myself. Not sure I like it, but if everyone else does, I can live with it. *shrug*

Okay, I think we are in need of some clarification. These little thingies, aka stuff(see glossary) aren't drop ups. You can't have something drop up. They can be drop ins or drop downs (as in the top of the page) but they just don't drop up. Pull ups, yes let them be pull ups. Every morning I'll do 20 pull ups at the bottom, then I'll go to the top and do 20 drop downs. Wassa can then turn his screen upside down and repeat the exercises. My won't we all feel good about our exercise program. "Using AQ and getting fit", that sounds like a new letterboxing mantra.

I was calling them pop up but I though I saw where Ryan was refering to them as 'drop ups'. I mostly just call them annoying.

mine do too....and I find them incredibly annoying.......but not so annoying as to prevent me from checking in at AQ a dozen times a day............

I didn't even realize they were there until I read this post. Guess they don't annoy me. LOL...

I don't usually respond to any of the changes on AQ...I am pretty flexible, and just go with the flow. I do use the bottom menu bar, and at first thought it was a good thing...save on room, and sometimes I would actually have to scroll down just to get to the bottom of the pull down.

However, it has gotten in the way a couple of times (popped up accidentally) when I am "submitting a post" or other things that end up at the bottom close to the menu bar.

It's not that big of a deal or a distraction, just thought I would point it out! Now back to my "go with the flow" attitude!
