Help!

I just got an ipod and I read that you can get free down loads that people like "donate" for other's to down load . . . and of course I can't find where these "donations" are . . . and of course I probably would not know how to download them . . . . any advise?

Honestly, with the exception of some free excerpts of TV programs and maybe a rare track or two music-wise, there are very few free downloads except for the Podcasts which there are a ton of.

There are free music downloads on Google and then you can import them into iTunes.

Be careful of "free downloads". One of our reporters just did a story about some college students getting hit with fees/fines some amounting to $3000 because they thought they were getting free music. From what I understand the artists get pennies per song but the record companies dang sure want their cut.

The only"free" music I've ever gotten was from eMusic.com. They have a one time introductory deal where you can get 25 or 50 free songs then you can drop out without any further obligation. (No big, popular hits though...obscure bands and live performances for the most part). There are places where you can download music but they are notorius for virus' and spyware...not to mention they aren't exactly legal. I'd just download from your cd collection and pay the .99 per song at ITunes.
