This user is posting on Yahoo board also! I do not believe this person is a boxer!
Can you check into it! If not a boxer - boot 'em!

It's also on Underground... don't boot him so fast. This may just harken back to the good ol' days of letterboxing, when clues appeared in the weirdest ways. This could be fun. Funhog

I agree, we have encountered troubles lately, but lets not rule out future fun just yet!

I'm pretty sure the person is a boxer considering that they also posted to the LbPNW, LbNCA, and LbNE boards. It's very odd to see the same message get hit on all these letterboxing boards if it wasn't really a letterboxer!

Though the person can certainly be accused of cross posting, I'm thinking it's probably legit. =)

Well I will risk the spam and send an email to the address since I have a few for this exact purpose. No point in us all doing it unless it pans out...

Go, Eidolon! Let us know how it goes. We can always boot him later, if necessary.

I'm sure it is. I thought it might be when I saw the post on the LbSe yahoo group. I was pretty certain when I heard it was also here on AQ. I'm really sure now, hearing that it's been crossed on to many lbxg groups.

It's been kinda amusing seeing who's gotten annoyed thinking it was spam, who ignored it, and who got curious.

They also posted on the Great Lakes list. The Yahoo ID was just created a week ago. Since we have moderated membership at the Great Lakes list, they had to give a reason why they wanted to join before being approved. It said simply, "I have secrets to share."

I was a bit unsure and placed them on moderation right away after joining. I was aware they had posted on various LB Yahoo lists, but still was skeptical as they could have posted on many Yahoo! lists, not just letterboxing ones. I actually deleted the message at Great Lakes, thinking it was SPAM. But that fact that they have posted at AtlasQuest also, leads me to agree with Funhog in thinking that it may be some kind of a cryptic lead-in to great letterboxing fun.

I was kind of wondering that at first too until I checked my e-mail and saw the same message waiting to be approved on the three Yahoo Groups I have ownership of. I still wasn't 100% comfortable about it, though, and even then I thought it was a gross misuse of cross posting which I'm not really fond of in the first place.

So I let the post on AQ stay and let the ones on the Yahoo Groups waiting for moderation simmer a bit to see what panned out. When Funhog said the message was also posted to the Underground, that's when I was sure it had to be completely legit. Even many experienced letterboxers don't even know about the Letterboxing Underground! There's definitely a letterboxer who's the mastermind of the posts. Can't tell you who (cause I don't know--though I did see the person's IP address show up on AQ as far back as January), but I'm am curious about what's going on myself. =)

So I finally decided to approve the posts on the Yahoo Groups. The one on the Northern California board looks like it was deleted! Guess one of my moderators or co-owner saw it and deleted it as spam. The Northeast board I really don't pay any attention to anymore and let TeamGreenDragon and moderators worry about what they wanted to do. So of the three groups I have ownership of, only the Pacific NW did I finally approve the message. (Left the guy on a moderated status, however, since I don't really like his cross-posting ways and may not let future posts go through.)

Interesting to see what happens, though. =)

I sent a message to the email address and in return got an autoresponse to send to a second email address. Sending to that one yielded a second autoresponse that had a reference that I can at least tie to a current Mystery Box so if you are curious, send your own message and start hunting. Bottom line, seems legit enough to me.

Excellent way to post about a mystery box! I just wish it were somewhere I could have actually gotten to! Maybe one day. : )

Getting to that box doesn't seem important to me as there are still clues to follow beyond that...

Me, either. But then, I've never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to mysteries. I love 'em, but I'm not all that great at the nuances of them.
