I'm going to buy a new printer. I prefer to use the wintergreen oil transfer method. What printer should I get? A link to an Amazon product would be ideal.

I hope you get an answer, or when I retire it's going to be pretty difficult to take my giant 4050N printer home with me...

About a year ago I bought a Brother black and white laser printer that someone else mentioned here worked well with wintergreen oil. It does and I use it for all my transfers. But I am at work and the printer is at home so I do not know the model right now. I'll update this posting when I get home tonight.

News flash: the printer is, in fact, a Brother HL-L2360DW and I am currently using a Brother DR-630 toner cartridge in it. It works just fine for synthetic wintergreen oil and cool rub transfers.

As with many such things... that which you seek can be found with a search in the AQ help (for "printer").

Most of the printers near the top of the list are ancient and would be very hard to find. But I do think that the 2nd from the bottom is the model (Brother HL-L2360DW) that I purchased a year ago. I'll verify when I get home from work today. The toner that came with the printer was okay but the generic toner that Office Depot sells for my printer works EVEN BETTER.

I use synthetic wintergreen oil and a warm iron but lately I've found the a cold iron works just as well so any smooth, flat object should be fine.

How does a cold iron work with the wintergreen transfer? Is it just a matter of wetting the image with wintergreen and rubbing it on??

The iron is unnecessary. After applying the WEO sparingly (!!) to the transfer, I put a piece of dry copy paper over it and press firmly with the heel of my hand. The paper absorbs excess oil, and the pressure ensures good contact.

Yes I found that but didn’t see wintergreen as a reference.
