Glue Stick or Liquid Glue
Board: LTC: Tips, Questions, and Stuff

When gluing paper to an LTC I used to use glue sticks. However, I found that they will often come lose in a place or two. Is this because I don't use enough, or is it something inherent in glue sticks?

I've used liquid glue (Tacky Glue) on my latest LTCs. It does keep the paper attached because I haven't had any paper come loose.

What do others think?

Personally, I prefer tape runner or glue dots; the moisture in some glues and glue sticks have made my cards warped or lumpy/misshapen in my experience, so I avoid them. Sometimes I use Mod Podge though, if I'm going for a shiny or matte finish on a card that also needs some parts glued on.😃

We use several types (including glue sticks - which sometimes fail) depending on the application. But for gluing two pieces of paper together - like an LTC backing - we use 3M 77 spray glue. One can will last for years. Even spray coverage and once it’s on, it’s on. In addition to LTCs I use it for other art projects as well as it resists warping your paper like some glues do.

You can also get it at Lowe’s.

Liquid glue usually wrinkles the paper so I prefer 2 sided tape (tape runner) or Permanent glue stick made by Scotch. Make sure you get either in place the first time as pieces are impossible to move once pressed in place.

I use Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive exclusively. I love the way a tiny bit goes a long way--and that you have a little bit of time to smoosh your paper into place before it adheres. I run a tiny bead all around the edge of what I am glueing and adhere. I have never had paper buckle. I buy it at Michaels with a coupon.

Or, as that old saying goes...

If the glue sticks, square it.

(or something like that)

I think I've used about every type of adhesive out there--except glue sticks!
I've never tried that.

I tend to need a lot of hold to keep my cards together so I have to say, my favorite method is the spray glue. I like the 3M 45 best (of the ones I have tried). I also like Krylon spray adhesive but the smell is pretty strong so I have to take it outside to use. I tried Aileens spray glue and it hopelessly clogged after a few uses, so I don't recommend it. When I use the spray I line up all the items I need to glue on a piece of newspaper and then spray them all at one time. It really makes quick work of it.

Another good choice is the Scotch ATG tape runner. It does get very tedious if you have a lot of taping to do, though.

For small jobs I find the Aileen's Clear Gel Tacky Glue works fine and it dries clear, which is nice.

I've been using rubber cement because I can adjust it, or glue runners. The glue sticks dry out too fast and don't seem to work well for me. I like the rubber cement because I can get all the way to the edge unlike with the glue runners. And if it spills over a bit, it's easy to rub off.

I tried the spray for something a long time ago, but it gets all over everything & stinks. I still have a full can waiting for something to use it on.

I use a tiny amount of Ranger Glossy Accents and im telling you, that will never come apart. But you have to be careful because it is very shiny. It also works really well to stick dufficult to stick embellishments, such as sequins. And it doubles as an embellishment itself, can be used to look like water drops, Shiny raised areas, or to apply glitter.

Other than that, I use the Tombow Dot Runner. That works fairly well, but it's expensive.

Glue sticks are basically all garbage unless you spend quite a bit, maybe Rangers Glue sticks.

I agree, I absolutely hate glue sprays.
