I need an anti-stupid button

I drove over an hour to box a park, hoping to get all the boxes. After getting home, I discovered that back in 2011, I found the 12-box series I spent most of my time looking for today. Also, for some reason when I went to log my finds, a bunch of clues I didn't see before popped up for the park. I guess I used the map view to search for the park box clues and these were mapped wrong. So I found a bunch of boxes I had already found, and didn't look for the boxes I needed to find. Gah! I need a Stupid button when printing out clues. I press it and it says, "Are you SURE you want to print those clues??" and then says, "Here, try these instead."

Check the "hide finds" button before searching. It does what you're asking. ;)

Guessing that is the plighte of the veteran boxer. :)

I did, but it didn't help in this case because there were a couple of boxes I didn't find within the 12-box series, so the entire series showed up in the clue list. And I remember thinking, how did I miss a 12-box series back when I boxed that park the first time? On the plus side, I did find one of the boxes yesterday that I couldn't find the first time.

If you look at the search results--not the page with information about the entire series, but the actual search results--it only shows the number of boxes in the series that match your search. So if only two boxes in the series match your search, the search would have shown it as a "series" of 2.

It's not until you look at the box listing itself that it'll tell you the actual number of boxes in the series.

For example, if you search for boxes I planted called "Silver Falls", you wind up at https://www.atlasquest.com/results.html?typeId=1;name=silver+falls;ownerId=1. Note that there is an 11-box series there.

Now if I edit that search to include only boxes that are active, it'll take you to https://www.atlasquest.com/results.html?typeId=1;name=silver+falls;ownerId=1;status=1. Now the series shows up as a "series" of 2 boxes. It's not that there are two boxes in the series, but rather 2 boxes in the series match the search.

I think a lot of people overlook that distinction when they glance through search results. Searches never show how many boxes are in a series--but rather how many boxes in the series match your search! =)

But when you drill down to the actual box listing and aren't viewing search results anymore, such as for the Silver Falls series, then it displays the number of boxes in the series.

I think I clicked on it from the map view? Either way, I was in a hurry and the nuance escaped me. I'm also not sure why the five or so other boxes didn't show in my mapped location search. I think because I had been at the park previously I didn't expect to see many boxes listed there, so I didn't do a more thorough search like I usually do. I went through the list of mapped boxes for the locality that didn't have exact locations and printed out all the relevant clues from that. One thing's for sure, when there are a LOT of boxes in an area, it becomes more difficult to pull clues for one particular location.

Yeah, I can't tell you that without knowing exactly what search you tried running and which boxes weren't in it that you expected to be there. There could be a lot of different reasons depending on the specific search you ran and how the boxes were listed.

Doesn't really matter. What got me is that at no point during this 12-box series did I ever think, wait, haven't I done this series before? I still can't believe it.
