Morning All,

I have very newbie questions about listing a bonus box. I searched the boards and got some help, but didn’t find an answer to my specific questions. I am trying to create my first bonus box. I set the dependency of the bonus box to the parent box. I can see it come up on my page as a new LB added. Does that mean other people can see it too? Or is it hidden from other LBers until they find the parent box? Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

At this time, no one can see anything in your logbook because you have your preferences set to "This member has chosen to keep their logbook private." If you change that to allowing others to see your logbook and have a box set up with a dependency, only you or anyone who has found the parent box will be able to see the bonus box.
When your box appears on the new box listing, only the parent box will show to others even though YOU may see the bonus box listed there.

Thank you for your response. Not having done a Bonus Box before, I was afraid that the bonus box could be seen by everyone when it showed up under the newest letterbox heading. Thank you again for your help.

It's hidden until they find the parent box, but if you're ever wondering about who can see what, a quick way to check is to log out of your account and check the new box list. If a box has any restriction at all, it won't show up.

You could also create another account that you can log into to see how they see your box (or not, as the case may be).

I've done that with some bonus boxes and about half the finders email me in desperation saying they can't find the bonus box listed. Then about half of those email again saying "never mind, I found it". The other half I have to explain the dependency. So, just a reminder to boxers. Log the main box first. THEN look for the bonus box listing.
