Wilberforce, Ontario has designated itself as the Geocaching Capital of Canada. Is someone in a position in some town to get their town designated the Letterboxing Capital of somewhere?

The Letterboxing Capital should be at least 200 feet away from Wilberforce, Ontario so as to avoid the zone of active geocaching searching and less than 520 feet away so as to benefit from the geocaching zone of exclusivity.

I'll plant some more boxes in CT this weekend, to ensure we stay on top. :-)

I think we should designate the entire state of Connecticut which has the highest concentration of letterboxes per capita, per *anything*.

The capital of a country is where the main seat of government is located. If we stretch that out to letterboxing, then Seattle is the letterboxing capital. ;o)

And that makes this living room the hobby's Capitol as well. *nodding* Amanda's working on getting us an x-ray machine to beef up security for visitors in the future.

I don't think store bought stamps should count.

It's not that hard to go to Hobby Lobby on 50% off stamp day and by a bunch of stamps and go hide them in Gladeware in your front yard.

Just a thought.

The first American Letterbox (excluding Valley Quest which predates letterboxing by many years) Max Patch had a store bought stamp. The stamp was originally a simple confirmation that you had actually found the letterbox. Thankfully the wonderful carvers among us have provided an extra incentive to locate boxes with their miniature art pieces that better fit a boxes' theme. I always prefer to find a hand-carved stamp to a store one.

(I should take this time to send out a big thanks to all of you btw, who have taken pity of my blacksmith hands and collaborated on boxes with your beautiful art work!)

Hmm, I will be in Seattle this weekend and May 4th weekend, what do I have to do to get on the AQ-Precheck list?

And LbNA is registered in Massachussetts, so it shouldn't be in either Seattle or Mass. I'd vote for Middletown, CT. It's pretty central to the most actively boxed areas in Connecticut. I just drove through the town an hour ago on my way boxing. Scenic town on the Connecticut River with the one and only Arrigoni Bridge: https://albraden.photoshelter.com/image/I0000aPT.o.8jDSI

I would agree with CT as the capital, and Mass as #2 due to LBNA having more history. But if we are going to go with modern history, then Texas would be my choice by far.

I would argue that the Capital should be where those with the most letterboxing experience meet. I believe that would be Wanda and Pete's livingroom.

To NLW (Sorry still do not know how to mark quotes)
Rhode Island can fit 221 times. But what does that signify? The nice thing about RI is you never have to travel far to find a ton of boxes. We are suffering culture shock in Florida. Sometimes we have to drive 2 hours to find one box. But soon we will return to enjoy the Spring, Summer and Fall in the tiny state of RI.

Texas is the 6th populous state for the number of letterboxes. The states listed are the 5 above Texas.

That was all, just thought it was a fun factoid.

Again. Let us put the idea of a letterboxing capital to rest. The hobby/obsession is now so popular and global that none of us can EVER find them all. And I for one am grateful for that!
