My rainy letterboxing day

Even though it was raining, I wanted to be first finder of a recently placed box so I stopped at the listed cemetery. Nearing the location I thought the box was located, my new white sneakers soon took on the color of the dirt surrounding the numerous new residents and water filled my footprints. Thinking I remembered the clue was that it was under a stone, I lifted a solid concrete block and https://www.atlasquest.com/gallery/viewphoto.html?gPhotoId=143703 is what I saw. Oh #&*%. Boney white hand bones. Well, moving right along further down the fence line, I finally spotted the box and then had to then grab a pointy stick to encourage the resident live coiled snake on top of the box to relinquish his position. And no, I was not the first finder.

Too bad the tv show Bones is over. That would have made a great opener. But is Labyrinth Lady reading this? I think we have material for a sequel to The Letterbox Murders.

I pulled a maggot covered pouch out from under a cemetery monument once. I poked *that* with a stick.

Jimminy Crickets! Am I missing the joke or is that a real human hand? And I'm with others. First pee, then out of cemeteries for a long while.

Early on and new to letter boxing, I put my hand in the hollow of a tree and nearly dropped on the spot as a snake obviously thinking he was set for his winter's nap came rapidly slithering out. Learned a good lesson that day!

Truly we had a similar experience inside an ancient church, in Ireland. My husband looked under a SPOR and it was someone's skull. We don't know why the poor character's bones were buried so shallowly.
