Visiting Edinburgh!

skootch and I will be in Edinburgh for part of the Festival in August, and I wanted to pick up a box or two (really doesn't look like there are many) while there, and we'd like to plant like, 5 new boxes.

With the UK being very advanced in CCTV, we don't want to look like we're planting bombs, how do we work around this? I'm keen on planting in cemeteries, and have found a couple off the beaten path that might do well. From the boxes I've seen clues for, I think we'll be lucky if the boxes ever get any hits on them, at all. Any tips for keeping them in play longer?

I'd like to do one or two magnetic boxes, but they're not exactly watertight (Altoids containers), and Scotland is, well, a bit more damp than MN is. Thoughts? Or, again, would a black spray-painted magnetic box look like a bomb, and get cleared out?

In any case, I'm thinking small. One reason is it needs to fit in luggage, and another is easier to hide well. I have to admit, I love me the urban box, but with limited boxing culture, there will be pretty much no one to check on them (until I can save enough to go over there, again), and I don't like being a litterboxer. Maybe if we plant several, it might generate enough interest to get folks to go over there?

Being good ambassadors of the Minnesota Carving Consortium is important to skootch and I, so we want to do it right.

TIA!

I have planted many boxes in the UK and never was concerned about being found on CCTV or considered a bomb threat. Boxes do go missing all the time in the USA and in the UK. We also would take small boxes, thinking we would not have that many finders ( so no reason to have a big logbook) and we wanted something small in luggage. So happy that you are planting more boxes in the UK
