Maine letterboxing

I am wondering about talking my husband into flying to Maine for our anniversary. IF I am successful, I'd like suggestions of places that are must-sees, letterboxes that are must-gets. Maybe I'd like some ideas of areas where there are high concentrations of letterboxes.
When we came before we saw Portland Head lighthouse and had seafood, that is it.
We aren't fancy people so not interested in fancy hotels or high-end shopping. We would camp at a campground (especially if there were a lot of letterboxes) if we weren't flying and could bring our equipment. We like getting into local life and not necessarily paraded to the tourist traps.

Do a 10 mile search around Brunswick... you should find a few :)

Do the same search around Saco or Gorham... same results.

When is your anniversary? There are so many Maine letterboxers and we are easily swayed into an adventure and meeting new people. And there is an event almost every month. Plus beautiful campgrounds. If you give us more details then we can probably be more helpful.

I love camping in Maine. We go to Hermit Island in Phippsburg. There are several letterboxes in the immediate area and Bath and Brunswick are not far away.

Acadia, Acadia, Acadia. There is so much to do and there are plenty of boxes. The scenery is beyond compare and there are miles and miles of unbelievable trail, including trails made many decades ago with granite steps. If you're there during peak tourist season, just go over to the quiet side of the island.

Our anniversary is in August. But I'm not sure that is when we will go. Right now it is in the planning stage.

We have a weekend event planned for August 18-19 with a pregather the night before. It's in a small coastal town about an hour south of Acadia National park.
[Weekend in Historic Searsport, Maine]

I hope so! I didn't get a chance to exchange with you last weekend. We'll have to secure your bag from cooties a little better, too.

Is there a deadline for registering? We are still pondering this event and uncertain as to the feasibility of attending.
