I just checked stampeaz.com. There is MZ Kut and NZ Kut available, but there is no OZ Kut listed. Does anyone know what is up?

Ah! That answers that question.

I had jumped right to "Carving Materials" and didn't even read that. Thanks for the quick reply.

You can read the full message. In summary, the company that made OZ Kut only does stiff material. Webfoot is in the process of looking for a company that will be willing to produce OZ Kut or something similar.

There are still MZ, NZ and Firm Kut available. You could even try the Japanese carving material.

Which one of these would carve most like OZ?

NZ, maybe after a good acetone scrub. It's been awhile since I've carved on any of those to remember, but FirmKut is a painful memory!

I have that SQL or SLQ...whatever we call it and I hate it...not a huge fan of pink...

I don't want to try anything else...I like my OZ...I don't like change...I'm a baby that way.

I have seen one stamp carved on orange PZ. It felt wonderful in my hands. How does it carve?

This almost brought me to tears. It's just sad that there are carvers out there who will never know what it was like to carve orange PZ Kut.

That review had this to say about orange PZ Kut: "Meh." To be honest, there were those who felt that way about the stuff when it was readily available. But it must be admitted that it was dramatically different stuff to carve, even from white PZ Kut. It's an entirely different experience. And once you become accustomed to how to work with it -- including the fact that it must be treated with an acetone scrub before transfer, which apparently was not done here -- it eventually becomes apparent that it's far and away the best stuff for knife carving that ever existed. For gouge carving, not so much, although there were those who loved carving it with a gouge.

Oh, and BTW: Fish probably didn't cut it with a hacksaw. It often came with that ragged edge as delivered. I dunno what that was, but it was common to have to slice the edges off before carving.

I'm an X-Acto carver and it's the best material I have ever used. And I miss it terribly :(

Very good article. I feel almost exactly the same way except for me I preferred the orange.
I don't like any of the other Z materials and only use pink now.

It belongs in a museum.
