I used to fly on Spirt from Florida to Michigan. Never had an issue. It has been about 10 years since I last flew though.
There was always turbulence above the mountains, but I would imagine that is the same with any airline.

Just be aware of the "hidden" fees. Fees for bags especially. If you are planning on carrying/checking several bags. Also if you print your tix at home. Don't lose it I believe they charge to print the tix at airport. ( or I could be confusing them with Ryan air). Sometimes by the time you add up all the extra fees. It is the same cost as a legacy carrier.

You'd think you'd have Ryan figured out by now. *shaking head*

Flown a couple of times.
One time (no baggage, no fixed appointment after arrival, no companion): no problems!
The other time (no baggage, one traveling companion, meeting first thing the next day): flight several hours delayed in taking off, teeny flight voucher that could only be used within 6 weeks, and the usual stress that comes with irate passengers (not me ... I wasn't irate, just stressed out).

Watch out for the fees. They'll charge you for a carry-on which is more expensive than the first checked bag, also, pay for it before you get to the airport or the fee will be way higher. Not only are their fees crazy but their weight limits and baggage sizes are smaller as well.

They charge you for wanting to assure you'll be sitting together if you are traveling with someone. We paid extra and then they had a big delay and computer problems and they ended up booking our seats twice. We got to the seats we had paid for and long ago picked out and someone was sitting there. Luckily for us, no one had paid to upgrade to the cushy seats up front so they moved us up there, mostly, I think, to keep us from filing a complaint!

All the hidden fees added up quite a bit and I am not sure it was worth it either. On another segment I had a broken-off armrest and felt like I was going to fall off into the aisle the whole flight.

Overall I don't think I'd ever want to fly them again, I pretty much hated my experience.

They are horrible!!!

Our plane was delayed 5 times which caused us to be at the airport for 13 hours. Then they cancelled our flight after the 5th delay no compensation whatsoever.

They weren't even gonna rebook us on a new flight they told us we had to buy a whole new
Ticket.

They said " we don't have to compensate with our prices people will always choose us to fly"

I was waiting in a VERY long line to check-in at American about a month ago, and the guy in front of me complained to one of the employees about why they didn't have more people working, and the airline employee told him it was because passengers didn't want to pay for them.

I almost thought about saying something myself to the passenger. "Hey, you know, those first class people have a special line. And it's short. Next time, book that."

I can't say that I really have much sympathy for people who purchase the cheapest ticket then complain about the lack of amenities or service. Don't get me wrong--I'm one of those people who will go for the cheapest ticket too! And no, I don't like the lack of legroom or added cost for a bag or fill in the blank. But I don't take it out on the airline employees. I know what I'm paying for, and it's not service or amenities! If I wanted that, I'd always book first class!

But I would pay a bit extra to ride on an airline I actually liked. Perhaps first class tickets aren't in my budget, but I'd pay a little extra for a better experience. (Southwest and Alaska pop into my head.)

Here's a law that needs to be passed ASAP: When you are reserving an airline ticket, whether online or anywhere else, the minimum fore-aft spacing from one seat to the next as well as the side-to-side spacing from a seat to the seat next to it should be provided. Once that info is available, online booking sites will be able to offer the option of specifying minimum seat spacing, and airlines that choose to cram three more rows of seats into the same airplane won't even show up in the search results. And those airlines that maintain a rational seat spacing will be able to charge a few bucks more without going out of business because everyone is choosing the absolute cheapest ticket -- because it's the one that pops up first on the listing of available flights.

Another law that needs to be passed ASAP: One checked bag, one carry-on bag, and one carry-on personal item (purse or briefcase) needs to be included in the ticket price. Period. This will help the TSA lines move much faster, and it'll help boarding move quicker since absolutely everyone won't be trying to carry everything they need for a 2-week trip into carry-on bags and stuffing them into overhead compartments.

I like the idea of requiring airlines to meet certain, minimum requirements. You won't get any complaints from me about that! The amount of legroom available and a checked bag are both a good start.

People take to much crap with them on vacation in my opinion. My husband and I spent 3 weeks in Australia and New Zealand and packed one backpack. We came home with 2 backpacks. I personally would rather wash my clothes in the sink rather than stand in lines and lug a ton of luggage around.
We also attended our daughters wedding while there, which were the only clothes we purchased while traveling.
Oh and I packed 6 letterboxes to plant complete with plastic containers.

Just my opinion, but I rather travel as cheep as possible and spend my money elsewhere. A couple hours of compact travel is no big deal to me.

Our last several plane trips have been carry-on only, and always include a half dozen letterboxes ready for planting plus some geocaching trade items to get rid of. I'd rather buy clothes after touchdown and donate them to Goodwill before flying home than pay the exorbitant baggage fees. But while SWMBO and I use carry-on bags designed to be carry-on bags -- the correct size and shape -- a lot of flyers do not, and the cramming of the overhead bins can get out of control.

SWMBO once spent five weeks in Italy with only a tennis bag for luggage. Packed only her old clothes and left most of them there, came home with some pretty rocks in her tennis bag for putting in her aquarium. The guy at customs picked up her bag and said "Whew! Whatcha got in here, rocks?" and she replied, "Why, yes! How'd you know?"

My problem is that I'm 6'4" and 315 pounds. My clothes, and especially my shoes, take up a lot of room, and so do I. I have been aboard airliners that I literally did not fit in, knees crammed against the seat in front of me, no way to get the tray down.
