Just looked again and it's clearly there at the bottom of the screen now. Either you very quickly fixed it, or the website just wanted me to look like an idiot!

I could see someone was causing a bug to show up with an order! It wasn't able to tell me who it was, but it was enough for me to fix the bug. Guess I know who it was now! =)

I think I might have actually overlooked a checkout button from the main AQ Marketplace page, though. I'll need to fix up all the code for the marketplace, really, but in the meantime, there's a checkout button when you view your shopping cart at https://www.atlasquest.com/marketplace/aq/cart.html. (At least there is if there's something in it!)

I think I found a bug, but I'm not sure. I can't seem to read or post to the message boards.

Cuz if I could, I'd post something witty, like fruits and veggies seemed to be grouped, like the nightshade family, for example, which has all sorts of yummy and poisonous stuff in it. But, I didn't post something witty, therefore, by contrapositive logic, I think it is a bug.

I'm confused. You just posted this, which is witty, therefore it can't be a bug. =)

OK, I'm not sure what this is. I checked on my letterbox "GF&A" on April 7 of this year, confirmed it was missing, and retired it. I checked on that listing tonight, and the comment I made when I retired the box had a 2013 date on it -- in fact, the date of the last find. Well, that's wrong, so I deleted that comment intending to re-enter the comment with the correct date -- only to find I can't do that. There's no place to enter a comment, I can only enter "owner maintenance", and only dated within the last month.

There were a number of people who thought it was unfair that I sorted comments based on the dates that were recorded rather than the date of the actual find, so I changed all the dates to the find dates.

And well... that goes for your comments too. How can you be leaving comments on a box if you hadn't been there to find it anyhow? ;o)

I say this totally tongue-in-cheek. I wasn't really convinced of the merits of making this change, but it was relatively easy to do and I didn't care enough about it to argue against it. Nobody seemed in support of keeping the status-quo and quite a few people wanted the change, so I made the change. *shrug*

Not providing a drop down list with dates that go back years.... Well, not many people record maintenance reports years after the fact.

But I've changed the date option so now you can enter any date between the box's plant date and today's date, so you should be covered now!

Well, in my case I was leaving a comment after an attempt!

Thanks, Ryan, excellent work as usual. Of course, now I'm a bit concerned that I need to go check a bunch of other boxes.

I faintly recall that discussion, but I had understood the concern was that people wanted to be able to log the date of the comment as the date they actually found the box rather than the date they were getting around to making the comment. IOW, what you just did -- allowed entering any date between the plant date and today. How that translated into going back and changing all the existing comments to the find date I dunno -- but I confess I didn't follow the discussion that closely.

Not sure if this is a bug, or something that has always been there and I only just now discovered it. A while back I changed my password on my account but forgot to change it on my sub-accounts. Today while signing into my sub-account I used my new password by mistake and it worked. I discovered that my sub-accounts will open with my new account password and my sub-account password. I am thinking this is because the master account will always be able to open a sub-account, no matter what the password on the sub-account is. Or it could be a bug.

Yep, that's exactly it. Not a bug. =)

Your sub-account passwords can't get you into the parent account, though. Think of it as a backdoor for sub-accounts. If you need to monitor your kid's account, for instance, they can have their own (private) password, but you can still get into the account if needed.

I can't read my mail. When I click on 'My Mailbox' what comes up is a page that has "Mailbox-Inbox' on the left in large print with a character and a telescope underneath that. On the right is a lobster and some symbol. NOTHING else on the whole page. Just letting GT know.

Recently I have archived a couple close by new boxes planted but can't find them when I search my archives. Is there a limit of how many pages or messages that can be archived? I realize I can search close by new boxes in other places, but this has always seemed quicker to me. Still, if it does this with boxes what say you if it is a message of some importance in a different subject. Thanks.

No. No limits. =) If it's in your archive folder, it should never be deleted.

That's how it's supposed to work and I thought it always has worked like that. Did I fix a bug and not even realize it?! =)

In any case, what do you want it to display? If you automatically forward all mail to your regular email address, the status is automatically set to "old" with the assumption that you're reading your AQ mail there. But if every message is automatically listed as "old" the second that you get it and you set the options to only display "new" messages, the widget would never display anything!

So it's not supposed to show you the "new" messages--you never have any. It can only display messages in your "inbox" or "all" messages (which, for instance, would include messages in the archive folder or trash folders).

You can edit the widget to display any number of the most recent messages (down to 1), though, so if you're seeing a lot of messages you don't want to see, you can cut the number down to 1. But you might consider just deleting the widget if you're not planning to use it.

Also, if you forward AQ mail to your gmail address just to store it, consider updating your email preferences to use the "archive" option. That will still forward AQ mail to your gmail address, but it won't automatically mark all AQ mail as "old" so you can set up the widget to display just new messages.

I asked 7-18:Is there a limit of how many pages or messages that can be archived?

You answered, Ryan:No. No limits. =) If it's in your archive folder, it should never be deleted.

The reason I asked was because I had archived around 4 more pieces (new Ok.boxes clues to look at later) but upon looking in my archives I found they were not there. No new page for them, nor at the top of the list where I would assume a new message would be placed. Into a black hole, I assume????? Unless there is another reason they didn't archive as expected.??
Oh, btw, I like that new widget. :-)

Thanks

Well, I still stand by the no archived mail should ever be deleted comment. Of course, there could be a bug causing it to be deleted that I don't know about, but it seems like I'd hear more reports about missing mail if that were the case.

I will note, however, that there is one minor exception to mail in your archive folder that can be deleted--if the account of the person who sent it is deleted, the message they sent will also be deleted. But AQ doesn't delete accounts from people who've listed letterboxes, so that wouldn't be the case here.

But maybe you clicked the "Archive" button instead of the "To archive" button. (I do that sometimes.) Maybe you accidentally clicked the "To Trash" button instead of the "To archive" button. (I've done that before too. I've also archived messages I meant to trash!) Maybe it IS in your archive folder but you overlooked it among the hundreds of messages you've archived.

I don't really know, but AQ should not be deleting messages that are in your archive folder.

So does AQ delete accounts without listing? I always wonder this when I see the anniversaries listed.

Depends on the account. =) Mostly, it's accounts that were created, maybe one find was recorded, then abandoned after being used for just one or two days, to free up trail names that would otherwise be occupied by what are essentially non-letterboxers.

Oh, and the anniversaries listed on the This Day In History widget only include active members, but the link from the "People" menu will include the full list.
