So this is going to sound cryptic, but I've got to let my letterboxing family know without posting on the "social media" sites.

My dad got the call last night just after 6pm and I am headed for an impromptu and last minute trip to Boston. Please keep he and my family in your thoughts and prayers. Please also pray for the family who's loved one is making this a possibility.

hope getting "the call" means that someone is having a baby! :) congrats if it is! otherwise...not sure, but will put you in my prayers

My brother-in-law got a similar call a month ago, is now home, and doing great.

I'm pretty sure it's an organ donation......which is wonderful for the recipient and the family but someone else's loss. So glad this is happening and prayers that all goes well!!

Leave it to Letterboxers to try to figure a puzzle. I can now say my dad is having a bilateral lung transplant. He's in surgery as I type.

They finished the surgery around 1:30, faster than the expected average for a double lung transplant. My dad is awake and breathing on his own with his "new" lungs but has a breathing tube in just in case. He's on the lowest dosage of oxygen, for his comfort. He's oriented to time, place and person. We're just waiting to see him.
