Is there somewhere on AQ that a user can "publish" something other than in a clue, a blog or message board? I'm missing something....

Well, how about you tell us what you'd like to publish, and we'll suggest the best option for it. =)

I've "published" various information in my profile, find comments, photo albums, even solutions to virtuals. What are you looking for?

Would you mean a blog, perhaps? I seem to remember Ryan offering to host letterboxing blogs at some point recently.

Clues can be published on personal web sites and blogs with the link in the AQ clue page. That may be where it is.

What about a different publishing idea: Without me learning to make a website, after I enter my signature stamp on my profile page, is there a way to exhibit more of my work? Even if, say, there was room for just three photos? I could rotate them.

I do other arts and crafts people might like to see, for instance.

How about starting a blog at blogger.com or blogspot or wherever? It doesn't have to be too wordy and you can add your photos there.

If I'm not mistaken, you can upload photos to a photo gallery, then include the regular-sized images in the "free flowing thoughts" section of your profile. Directions for how to display an image are at http://www.atlasquest.com/help/markups.html.

Definitely don't create links to the "large" version of your photos, though--those get deleted after about a month or two. The regular-sized images are fine, though.

You could put a few pics, etc in your albums. Then put a note on your profile that you have pictures of your work in your albums.

Look under My Page, My Logbook, there you can add Albums.

I don't see anything about albums on the logbook page. Top, bottom, left or right side of page?

To create an album go to Toolbox, then Photo Gallery, and click on Create Album. From your logbook, use the Action dropdown to get to Photo Albums.

Having recently been using my new tablet on a trip, I can report being surprised that there was no Toolbox on the tool bar! Took me a while to find Photo Gallery, which ended up being hidden under one of the other headings! AQ apparently morphs itself a little bit when accessed with a tablet or smart phone. On my laptop, I have three columns of widgets on My Page, but on my tablet there are only two.

Yeah, I tried to squeeze a little of the "width" out of the pages so they're slightly more easy to navigate mobile devices, but it is possible to override that setting by clicking the link on the home page to display the "standard view" of AQ instead of the mobile-friendly view.

The mobile view also gets rid of any images in the corner of the pages (like the hourglass and wine cups at the bottom of the New Years theme now), removes the "newest letterboxes" column from the home page and other minor tweaks here and there.

But I really just need to design the whole site to actually work well with mobile devices instead of the halfhearted tweaks I've done so far....

If you switch to "standard view" on something with a 4-inch screen, do you see the whole My Page really tiny? Or do you see a small portion of it and have to pan around on it?

You'll see the whole page really tiny and you have to zoom in to the area where you can really read anything. Then you might have to pan around to see the stuff that now scrolls off the page.

It's not pretty.... =)

Well, since some of us are working with 17" screens while others are working with 4" screens, I guess you gotta decide what you're gonna do.

No. Photos are not an option there, for me at least. I found your photo album. Here's the link--maybe you can insert it in the "Free Flowing Thoughts" part of your profile page. You've got some really neat things in there--I love the eggs, and the Tanzania watercolor needs to be a logbook cover and a stamp. Nice!

That's funny. Others could not access my photo album! So last night we added a link, on my profile page. I don't think anyone has tried it yet, so can't be sure if it works. [Any one want to volunteer?]

I have taken two of my stamp image ideas from my eggs, because the eggs are suitably small. Never thought to use the Tanzania picture, which is 5 by 8 inches. Thanks very much for your kind comments!

Thank you!

They are certainly real eggs, and whole ones! But the process uses hot wax resist, like batik, and intense dyes. The egg is dipped in several baths, from lightest to darkest color, after each wax application. My local Ukrainian church gives lessons, but I also made Pysanki in the past. It's an old, traditional craft. Other ethnic groups do them in different ways. I often see drawings in white, dipped in a single brilliant color. The wax is melted over a candle, in a tool called a kistka. I use a fine kistka, mostly.

Recently tiggermama shared that she does this process as well. She said that it helps her to put carving stamps in perspective as the eggs are breakable & do get broken after all the hard work.

Thank you for sharing.

How fun! My neighbor teaches a Ukiraniun (sp?) egg class. She made one for me with fish on it that is simular to yours.
I have chickens and I am saving eggs for her. She especially likes the blue & green ones that my Americana's lay.

It's always fun to see artist's work!

Oh, I love getting a carton of multicolored eggs at the farmers market. I have a friend with all kinds of ducks, quail, chickens and young children. Teacher sent a note complaining that girl kept insisting there COULD be green eggs and ham.

And thank you.
