So very sorry to hear this shocking news. I had no idea Glenn had cancer. He will be deeply missed by so many and his contributions as a Vietnam Veteran and a letterboxer and family man were great. Many extra hugs to his sweetheart, Georgette, his sister OkieDog and entire family.

We are very sad and with heavy hearts today. We are very lucky to have met this generous man several times and had the pleasure of talking with him on quite a few occasions. He was a an inspiration to me and certainly was a joy to find his art and share in his talents. He will be missed. Spakinois and Jazzy Q

I just got back from visiting family in PA and signed on to Atlas Quest...so sad to read about Glenn's passing. He was a great person, making everyone welcome with his words and actions. The letterboxing world is better because he was in it. He will be missed.

I heard this very sad news this morning and feel like i've been punched in the stomach. I've sat here and reflected over my years of letterboxing and Glen.

He was the first boxer I set out to meet. I had been boxing in the Hocking Hills area and kept finding his little pieces of art. I was fascinated.... how does he do this??? My first oportunity to meet him was at Jim and Stacies event. But we just missed each other and I never caught up to him.

I finally did get to meet him at the first SOHT. And what a delight. I had sent down a C-130 stamp specifically so he could get it. And he was thrilled. I spent a good part of the day talking with him and Rodney. You instantly like Glen. And I instantly did. What I found is a good natured, funny, entertaining gentleman, with a hearty laugh, and a love for life.

Over the years, Glen offered kind words of support to me and family during our rough patches. They wer always heart felt and sincere, and insighful. Behind the funny man, was also a very thoughful man.

As I sit here and realize how badly I, along with the rest of the letterboxing community will miss him. It occurs to me that he, honestly had no idea how profoundly he touched people. I'm sure he was aware that he was well liked, but I truly do not belive he knewsjust how beloved he was. He was far to humble.

I feel like I'm saying good bye to a much loved, favorite uncle. And I also feel deeply blessed, that Glen found me a worthy person to pass time with, and call a friend.

Every time I see a C-130 I will think of you riding the wing to the heavens. And I will always hear your hearty and infectious laughter in the background at events. God speed my freind. You will forever be in the hearts of your Ohio family, deeply missed, and very much loved.

I'm saddened to hear about Glenn losing the battle and pray that his wife Georgette finds a little comfort in the fact that he was loved and respected by so many people around our country. Rest in peace Safari Man.

We have been out of Letterboxing for a while and only have made it to a few events. However the events that we did attend, Safari Man always made us feel so welcomed. He truly was a gift to the Letterboxing Community and we will cherish every stamp we have of his. Prayers for his family and friends. He will be missed by many. Heaven's gain is our loss.

Thanks for letting us all know, Sandy.

I was just thinking about Glenn today. When I found out I was moving to Marietta, I had not yet met Glenn but my best friend and LB buddy Kimono Girl had and so the fact that I would be near all these great boxes Glenn placed was one of the first things she told me. When she and Flying Dragon visited, I had happened to mention it in passing in an email to Glenn and he showed up there to say hello to them, having met them at GLG when it was in Columbus. I will miss finding new plants of his but even more I will miss running into him on the trail. Most of my favorite hiking spots here in Marietta I know of because of him.

Wow. I'm just shocked. I have no real words. I pop on the boards every now and then and saw this and I'm devastated. What a great, sweet and welcoming man. He had an infectious laugh and I felt such a great thrill to get to hear it. He was extremely talented and knowing that I have a copy of his personal stamp in my logbook makes me feel so happy and extremely lucky. I feel like I'm a better person for having met him. It was an honor, a true honor to have had that opportunity. Thank you Safari Man for being the second person to sign up for the train event, I'll treasure those memories forever!

All ABoaarrrddd dear friend!

My heart is heavy from hearing the news. I first met Glenn five years ago. He took the time to color in his signature stamp in my book. I felt special as he was coloring it in with all the different colors when he said he doesn't do it for just anyone. It was one of my first events and he took the time to make me feel welcome. He left an impression with myself and my children. Both my kids were so young then too! But they remember him from pictures and of course all of the stamps in our logbook. We will cherish all the memories.

His service was very nice & simple just the way he would have wanted it but the military rites tore us all up especially when all his vet buddies saluted thru the rites......The church ladies did an awesome luncheon for us & I know Glenn was laughing his butt off over all the stories we were telling!!!!

You know, I looked at the church website and noticed a lot of photos taken at a spaghetti dinner several years ago. I think I saw Georgette in one of them. Made me wonder, did Glen take all those photos too? And are there duplicates with captions?

Wish I had been there, Glenn and family have been in my thoughts. Was attending my dad's and mom's graveside service at that time. I thought of both my dad and Glenn as one vet played 'taps' it was so beautiful, yet heart wrenching.
On the way home saw a bald eagle perched high in the trees. I'd like to think it was sign that they approved of the their send off we had for them.
Take care Rgang, Linda

It didn't mention on the funeral site or memorial site here which cemetery. Can you send me that info in an AQ mail. Would like to visit the site when I get back to Parkersburg this summer.

Thank you,

IR

Glenn seemed like such an amazing man, I wish I had known him. So many of my friends have been posting on Facebook how he touched their lives and now I see this thread and see how many more people are mourning his loss. Cancer sucks! RIP, Glenn - I imagine there were lots of animals waiting at the Bridge for you when you arrived.

I just want to pop in and say thank you to every one who posted their condolences, it warms my heart to know he had so many friends in this community who loved his art and the man himself, and for those lucky enough to have met him and got to know him, you were blessed, imo...not a day goes by I don't think of him... and the great loss each of us has, but the great joy we will all remember he contributed to this hobby and to our lives just by knowing him. Thank you....

Rest in sweet peace, Glenn, brother mine.
