My little one and I are spending a rainy day watching this. It's the frist time I've seen it since I was a kid! Loving the "all-star" cast...particularly Mandy Patinkin. It's a whole different story when you're an adult!

Now, see, that's just inconceivable.

You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Cary Elwes

Wasn't he also the Robin Hood who could actually speak with a British Accent, from Robin Hood: Men in Tights?

I just recorded that the other day so my son could watch it for the first time. Was one of my favs as a kid and I watched it too many times. Plus I thought Cary E. was so hot at the time!! He was in Liar Liar too, he plays the doormat dating Jim Carey's ex.

First time I ever saw Cary was in an ACT production of Taming of the Shrew. And it was also the first time I ever thought Petruchio was a hunkin' babe.

Then I saw him in Beast Master and was a bit disappointed. Princess Bride returned my faith in him.

If you love the movie, you should give a Princess Bride party for Halloween. It would be a lot of fun.

Love Berkeley Breathed as well. Princess Bride and Opus have similar humour lines.

The book is even better! As an aside, I played Buttercup in my 7th grade play of The Princess Bride.

My little one and I are spending a rainy day watching this.

We watched this with my daughter while she was still 8 and she loved it. Then we saw the episode of Phineas and Ferb (I think it's called Ferbalot) wherein they spoof part of the film - the bit with the grandfather reading the story to his grandson. I don't know that I've laughed that hard in my life - and what's better is that my daughter actually GOT it, along with a lot of other spoofed stuff in that ep.

This is what having kids is all about, right?

The book is fantastic- did you ever write away for the deleted scene? The publisher actually mailed it to me. How cool is that? I wonder if they still do that...

Yes, I still have my copy of the deleted scene in my very beat-up, well read and loved paperback copy of The Princess Bride. Last year someone posted a website that you can go to now for the deleted scene. Reading it on the web doesn't have quite the same effect as being mailed a copy of the scene by the publisher.

The cliffs of insanity bit was filmed at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland (near Shannon and Galway in County Clare--they are incredible and well worth a visit if you are in Ireland!

When I officiated at my friend's wedding 5 years ago, I did this to them at the rehearsal. They made me promise I wouldn't do it the next day at the wedding. :)
