Quote Take that with the fact that there aren't many of us that ARE single, and multiply that by the percentage of desirability, I would say it's few and far between that letterboxers hook up THROUGH letterboxing.

Hey now, I am single and ridiculously desirable, thank-you-very-much!!!

SO hear is a new question spurred by all the talk of Male vs. Female. What is the age breakdown of most boxers? Lets look at it in groupings of 10 years.

Here is my thoughts based on what I have personally seen:

0-9 don't count as they are going where parents are
10-19 I bet a fair amount due to scouting and still going with parents
20-29 I bet the smallest percentage. Most kids that age seem to have other things on their minds. Like beer. I just drink beer while I box. I fall in this range, as I am 27.
30-39 Seems to be a significant ammount of boxers, posssibly most?
40-49 Also seems to have a significant number of boxers
50+ Alot of people still. some out with grandkids.

Would you guys agree? I think this is even more poll worthy then the Male vs. Female thing. Although I know some ladies wouldn't want to say there age even if it is in a 10 year range. I definitely think 20 year olds are the smallest group though. Any thoughts why? I would love to see more people that age out there!

Quote I put just as much time and effort into them as I would into a traditional or postal letterbox. My hope is that if I make them really awesome and it is obvious that I poured a lot of care into them, then maybe people will be more likely to take the time to log them.

I totally agree with this. I like to experiment with tiny, unique logbooks:
--the fuzzy Truffula tree logbook that has a Lorax stamp inside it
--the round moon logbook that has a "bubble" in it that holds my Bitty Batty stamp
--my Druid's Talisman series that are stamps mounted into a necklace like "talisman" strung to a felt cover logbook.

Of course many of my HH's are also from my children. They enjoyed carving but I just couldn't plant all those so off they went as HH's. We note in the logbooks that they are from children. One of them went to Disneyland, was signed by Mickey Mouse and was mailed home!

I can't say that I hear from them often but when I do the comments are very fun!

It's a gamble to release them and the odds are not good that you will get them back (or even hear from them), but the pay off if you do is really cool (those are stamps I could have never gotten otherwise!)!

My son has four African Clawed frogs. They are aquatic, so live in a huge aquarium. He ordered them for his third grade class to observe - they came in several stages. No one wanted to take them home at the end of the year, so he has had them for a year.

I know there are a few in Geneseo (my alma matre!) and a couple in the outlying areas but not a whole lot. Geneseo is about a 20 min drive north I think. Try searching under that.

There may be more twenty-somethings than you think. I can think of four of them right now; oops, make that six.

I fall in the forty-something range and I've proud to admit that, in spite of my child- and young adulthood, I've survived this far. ;-)

My man likes to letterbox, but he likes different aspects of it than i do. He hates city boxes, much prefers the hiking to get there boxes. He will probably never post here on AQ. I enjoy vsisting the boards and seeing what is going on with fewllow letterboxers. He doesn't really like gatherings, but doesn't hate them either. But we both like carving stamps and planting them!

I'm in the 30's range .... and I say that readily because it won't be true much longer. hee hee!

I know several in the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50+ around here. Seems to be a good distribution among the Texas boxers I have had the privilege to meet. :-)
