It only has a generic label written in Japanese.

I'm glad that someone could read it. It is strange that it had an adhesive label with "Made in China".

What would be a good short name for it here?

The material we called SLQ was named as ‘shorthand’ for the seller’s name, and she is still selling material, although she’s on Ebay now (and no one seems to be certain if it’s the SAME material as before). I think it would be helpful to also call this material something that identifies the seller, either gentoys or GT block. I have seen several white carving blocks on Ebay from different sellers, that come in the same sizes and look alike, but might not be the same material. It would be helpful to know which seller’s material we’re talking about, for anyone wishing to order that same material.

I posted awhile ago seeking a SLQ source. I did some poking around, and found the original SLQ seller (indeed on eBay), and ordered directly from sweetloveqiner. The shipment came today: definitely SLQ, and interestingly, one of the package labels (usually just plain, clear plastic) reads Junesix, with a row of Chinese characters beneath it.

Anyway, if anyone else is interested in pursuing SLQ, here's a summary of my scouting:

qiner061210@163.com (email for PayPal payment)
(I put the below in the note payment section)
I’d like to place an order then, please:

15 of the LIGHT-COLORED 15x10x.8cm rubber stamp carving slabs. I’d prefer slabs in the LIGHT GREEN shades if possible. (Once I placed the order, I got an email requesting that I select the colors I prefer, labeled by number.)
My calculations show:
15 x $4.50 USD = $67.50 USD
DHL Shipping = $35.00 USD
Total: $102.50 USD

I also ordered one slab of this from eBay hoping it's SLQ - while bigger-sized slabs, that shipping is killer. And, a bulk order doesn't make much of a difference - each block drops to $12.99 shipping
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extra-Large-Colored-Rubber-Stamp-Carving-Blocks-for-DIY-own-stamps-29-x-21cm/231976657500?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=531170133673&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Then, there's this on etsy, good price/shipping (not sure of how bulk orders work - I just bought one) & you get to choose your colors, which is awesome! https://www.etsy.com/listing/545731471/solid-color-rubber-block-diy-rubber?ref=hp_rv

But hey, I did our northern friends a favor and planted the box well away from the water.

Wait, southern letterboxers don't mind getting chomped on by alligators??!!

I found one of them also! Mine was a driveby about 15 feet away from a parking lot which miraculously has survived for ten years.

Can I use my "pounding on a block of ice encased box, stick" or do I need a special alligator stick?

Just box with a slower, chubbier person. You can give them the stick, if you want to be nice.

Anyone know why my "inbox" has been flooded with requests from Floridians for me to go boxing with them?

OK so here's my favorite boxing in Florida story: First box of the day, I'd been warned to always use a stick since the snakes don't hibernate, cover my hands because the have fire ants, and to steer clear of all water due to gators.

I'm at the first box, I use my stick, I reach towards the box and the snake jumps out a bites the tip of my gloved finger. I scream, drop the box and jump back. Ranger comes tearing over and asks if I'm ok or if I'm sick or nauseous. I say neither and he tells me he's going to wait with me because if I get sick or nauseous the snake could have been venomous.......as we're waiting he asks if I mind him asking a question to which I respond, "you're holding my hand, I think we qualify as close friends". So he asks if I'm a letterboxer to which I reply yes.

He says, "you do know you're supposed to use a stick before you grab?" My response was, "I used a stick!! It woke the (damned) thing up angry!!"

It only got better from there!!

Geocaching style is get them to the general location, and then they have to use their geoskills and look around. I thought "oak tree" was enough. To me, the element of surprise when you find a geocache is fun.

Oh grasshopper, you were paying attention!

Now comes the part where some know-it-all do-gooder is tempted to raise consciousness with a link to a picture of a crocodilian gliding along in one of our picturesque crystal clear Florida springs. Is photoshopped, so don't you worry that pretty little head about it....

Make sure that you leave it where you found it! Letter boxes stay put, while geocaches generally move. You can use the "simple search" button and type in the box name or box number. If neither of those are listed inside of the box you found, try searching by the city you found it in.

Letter boxes stay put, while geocaches generally move.

Geocaches are also returned to their original location.

From the geocaching site....

"At its simplest level, geocaching requires these 8 steps:

Register for a free Basic Membership.
Visit the "Hide & Seek a Cache" page.
Enter your postal code and click "search."
Choose any geocache from the list and click on its name.
Enter the coordinates of the geocache into your GPS Device.
Use your GPS device to assist you in finding the hidden geocache.
Sign the logbook and return the geocache to its original location.
Share your geocaching stories and photos online.
There are many other levels to the game. Keep reading the guide to learn more!"
