Postcards for my sick step mom

I didn't realize how sick she was. But she is very ill. She's been in and out of the hospital. I've set up a tracker if anybody would like to send her a postcard with some kind of stamp art on it. They know a little bit about letter boxing but I think she would really get a kick out of getting some postcards from some of us. She loves cards so much. This reminds me my of grandfather who recently passed away. I had a tracker for him a few years ago. He kept all of his cards in a ziplock bag and carried them around with him. I don't know if she'll do that but I know she'll be so excited to see love coming her way. Here is a link to the tracker.
Thanks x1000

The next few letters for the Alphabet LTCs are listed! Even if you haven't done any of the letters leading up to now, I invite you to join for one or more letters! "M is for" still has space and is due in about 3 weeks but I've listed letters through December, too. Recycled stamps are fine as long as it's a new card! :)

...hospital!!! (Sorry, ran out of room on the title section)

Some of you know that my step mom was admitted into the hospital about a month ago. My father was in town for my niece's graduation at the time, and actually my step mom had just gotten out of the hospital before my father came to visit. When he got back to Orlando, things were looking awful. My step mom was completely delirious and very angry. My father thought he was going to lose her. She was home alone, and the neighbor had to drag her out of the house to gether to the hospital. We thought this was it. Needless to say she was disoriented and feeling somewhat unloved. I reached out to my letterboxing friends and she has received so many postcards. I have received quite a few positive text messages from my father about how they lifted her spirits and really seemed to turn her attitude around. She is home now. Even the mailman is commenting on how much love has been coming her way. People are so fascinated with postcards with stamps on them.
I believe in my heart of hearts that you all brought my step mom home. I am so grateful. My father is so grateful. And she is so grateful. She said she's at a loss of words for how much love she has received and she needs time to process it. Little acts of kindness go such a long way. Thank you all soooooooooooooooooooooooooo *breath* oooooooooooooooooooooooo *breath* ooooooooooooooooooooooo
*breath* MUCH!!!!

Art Study Encouragement
Board: LTC: Trades and Trackers

https://youtu.be/7-Q5eQm_mog

A friend sent me this video that does a good job explaining my recent Art Study tracker. I thought I'd post it as an encouragement to join my swap but really as an inspiration to join future Art Study swaps too.

My recent theme is pretty simple. It'll take a little thought but for the most part the carved stamp will be a square, rectangle, or another shape that you would chose.

The general idea behind behind these swaps is to study the movement so you understand how best to create the LTC. But it isn't necessary to read about the movement. You can easily look at the artwork and recreate what you see. But I will tell you that I have really enjoyed taking a little time to read about the movements. So much of the art is an expression of the artist and it's been driving me to understand their mission.

As the swaps have been sorted it is fun to see what others have been learning. The private emailing has been encouraging. It's been fun to brainstorm together. Some recreate an original art piece while some design their own cards in the parameters of the movement - with their own artwork or with artwork that fits the movement.

If you are interested I can send photos of my cards to you. Maybe you are on the fence and would like to see what we have been up to?

Hopefully other participants will jump in here...? :)

I'll put a plug in to say that I've really enjoyed being in these swaps. I am new to making LTCs, and I have enjoyed seeing mini-works from different styles of art. For a couple, I have found a particular piece from the movement that I wanted to try to recreate. For another, I tried something of my own that I felt fit the mood of that particular movement. But, in general, it is fun to learn about the different styles of art, what defined them, the prominent artists for each, and their styles.
My LTCs will never compare to Linden Leaf's (seriously - they are AMAZING!), but I like getting the inspiration all the same. Thanks for hosting them. : )

The art study trackers hosted by Linden Leaf and amazingadventurefrog have been some of my favorites. These trackers usually cause me to step outside my comfort zone and work with different supplies, try a different technique, or work with an image I might not otherwise have chosen. Participants tend to communicate, so the tracker experience is an evolving process of sharing thoughts and ideas.

Oh! Yes!! Working with images that you would not normally choose has been hard for me. I really didn't enjoy my precisionism image while I was carving it. But after it was colored it was very satisfying to me. There are something about straight lines and order that is to be appreciated.

I know I have enjoyed these. And art is art. It's always subjective, so it can be very forgiving when it comes to interpretation.

PO has me po'ed
Board: LTC: Trades and Trackers

Thread Board (disabled)
Is it me, or is anyone else having these issues lately? I know I said something recently, but it's starting to get out of hand and not just once in a while. Mail going out (and sometimes in) seems to take so long that it appears lost. Just when I have written something I've sent off, it shows up. I've even remade and resent cards just to have them show up a day before the lost ones. It's hapening with the very few postals I participate in also, and tracking doesn't help. I either get NO updates on tracking, or watch the item swirl around the country and can't do anything because it's not "lost". I sent something recently through Priority and the tracking went dead for 7 days, then mysteriously showed up at its destination out for delivery. Did I step into the Twilight Zone and now have service through the Pony Express and not the USPS?? What should I do besides send in LTCs months early and not join any more postals? I'm so embarrassed and feel like I'm not only stressing myself out and others, but am ruining my rep.

I recently had one set of cards take a week to get to its destination (it should have been 3 days), but otherwise, I haven't had a problem. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself!
