The link to "My Signups" already sorts so upcoming/future events are listed first. I'd rather not remove past events from your list of signups. Sometimes I try to record my finds a day or two after the event is over and if it's not listed in "my signups," where else would I look to find it?!
But there's no reason you can't create a favorite search with your signups of upcoming/future events. For instance, this link. Save it as a favorite search and use that when you want a list of your signups for upcoming/future events.

Same here Ryan, I love that ALL my signups past and future are all in one place. Amazing enough sometimes months later I find that I have a stamp or two that was missed logging and I know right where to find it, if that stamp, PT, other or exchanges came from an event.
Comment Date Request
Board: Suggestion Box
Mar 29, 2017 5:47am
So I understand that comment dates are stored separately from find dates and that if I log an n/a find with a comment, the comment date will be the date that I entered it. That makes sense (although I would prefer to be able to set the comment date myself).
When I am logging a find with a comment at the same time, however, it would be better to make the comment date the same as the find date. Because realistically, my comment is going to be about the date that I found it. I am definitely not the only one who scrambles to fit in some letterboxing time and always gets home later than planned and then doesn't have time to log it the same day (or week or month). I know we can View Finds to get the exact dates and experienced boxers may do that, but the comments are right there in front of your face. How often, if ever, is someone's comment going to be NOT from the same date when they are logging their find?
I'm finding that the newbies I teach don't even make an AQ login for quite a while, even though I strongly encourage it. They have no reason to be a in a hurry and at first aren't concerned with removing finds from their search lists, so that's just one more example of when a comment can be WAY off.
I've just seen too many people start letterboxing, only to get frustrated because there is so much that they can't find and they don't know how to evaluate the likelihood of a box being there, and then they quit. We will ALL be better off if there is a continual influx of newbies (because there is a continual outflux) and newbies will eventually plant boxes for US to find!

It's not just newbies who don't post their finds in a timely manner. [whistles innocently]
But I totally agree with you. The most relevant timestamp for the comment is when I was actually in the vicinity of the box making the find or attempt. The least relevant timestamp is when I'm sitting at my computer someyears weeks later when I'm logging the find. It would be better to have no date at all on the comment.

How about adding a symbol to the Ships in the Night feature which shows up if one has done an exchange with that person?
Helpful Links to Carvers
Board: Suggestion Box
Apr 22, 2017 6:36pm
When looking at a box listing, the planter's trailname is evident and alongside it are icons for looking at his profile, checking his log book, sending him a message, etc. If the stamp was carved by someone else, their trailname is shown as well -- but there are no helpful links for looking up what else they've done or sending them a message. You have to go look them up the hard way. At the very least, their name itself should be highlighted and clickable or something.
It'd really be neat if there was an icon to check their log book, and the default setting was to bring up their carves or donations.

On second thought, maybe a symbol for people who one has done an exchange with should show up next to the other icons next to trailnames instead of just on the Ships of the Night section. Or maybe the trailnames could be a different color. Maybe make it another premium feature. That way people would always know immediately that they've met that letterboxer in flesh and in ink.

Specifically bringing up carves or donations is a bit trickier and for the amount of work that would be necessary, I think is kind of unnecessary. But I've added the icons to link to a person's profile, contact, and logbook pages. =)

Funny you should mention that. I was already thinking about doing that before you even posted this! Why hide it in the a person's profile?
I hadn't thought of that idea, but I like it! It's now a new premium feature! If there's a coffee cup by someone's name, then you've done an exchange with them. (It doesn't have to be done at a coffee shop, obviously!)

New Option for Event Signup Sheet?
Board: Suggestion Box
Apr 24, 2017 8:33pm
Ryan,
I just signed up for a gathering being held in a couple weeks. I generally take at least one of my kids with me, sometimes 2, 3, or even all 4 of them.
They each have their own sub-accounts under my name. When I signed us up for the gathering, I had to switch to each of their accounts to sign up -- basically having to sign up 3 different times under 3 different accounts.
I was wondering if, on the "Event Signup Sheet" page, you could add the sub-accounts with a box to check off for who was going to the gathering.
Yes, I could put "# in Party" as 3 . . . but when I sign the kids up individually, then it makes things easier for other attendees to register their exchanges with my kids.
Thanks,
hx6

I totally agree. I have the exact same issue with my kids! I like being able to manage one sign up (especially for events that limit attendees), but people are often confused by my kids looking to do exchanges. Nobody ever knows if they've exchanged with them, because they aren't on the list...
Location Search
Board: Suggestion Box
May 4, 2017 11:30am
For those visiting the AQ website using a smartphone, might it be possible to have a search function that searches for all boxes near to where your GPS says you're standing right now? In fact, a simple button right on My Page or the Home Page would be great, not having to go to the Search page.
It probably would be called "Nearby Letterboxes", but that might be confusing since there's already a "Nearby Letterboxes" button when you're looking at a box details page. I dunno how to deal with that. One is nearby to the box you're looking at, the other is nearby to you. Perhaps just ignore that little wrinkle, since both make sense.

On the homepage of my iphone, I just put a link to the simple search page.
From there, the 'here' button is available which uses my gps.
2 quick clicks.
