That has got to be the funniest, most bizarre article I've ever seen about letterboxing showing up in my inbox. =)

You've all been so helpful. I love AQ!

I've decided to forgo the rodeo box for now. I need some time to think about it. I can see very valid points from both sides of this one. I'll head down to the Stockyards this weekend to judge for myself how it goes there in the arena. You can't judge that which you do not know, ya know?

Instead of the rodeo stamp, I'll do the Texas state folk dance: square dancing. No way I can step on any toes there, unless I was REALLY square dancing, then I'd step on plenty, I'm sure!

Thanks again, y'all!

It's part of a SERIES......so it's actually listed under Star Wars.

Hmm.... I actually thought I updated the site a number of months ago to also start searching the individual box names as well as the series name.

Looking through code

Yep, it's checking individual box names.

http://www.atlasquest.com/lboxes/results.html?gTypeId=9;gAuthorId=2047;gName=obi-wan+lightsabreor .... maybe you try looking up Obi-Wan Lightsabre HH by So. Hill Hendersons please.

Well there's the problem! You're spelling "Obi-Wan" when it should be "Obi-Wan's" and "Lightsabre" is spelled "Lightsaber"--at least that's how it's spelled on Atlas Quest. And the link you provided spelled it "lightsabreor"--I don't even want to know what that is! ;o)

I read somewhere that the two unaired episodes will air sometime this summer. As far as House goes, it was an episode I haven't seen, so I enjoyed it - after I watched Barney on the Price is Right (How I Met Your Mother). Funny funny stuff! :)

Well, you had lightsaber spelled incorrectly, so that explains why you couldn't find it with the search. :)

It might be they tried to enter an address, it wouldn't work, and finally got so annoyed they just didn't enter anything for the location instead of just putting the city information. I think that happens more often than I'd care to admit. =)

Inclusion of a logbook is technically part of a letterbox but as you may have guessed, there are a number of ways this has been interpreted. I have one with only an online logbook http://letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=22597&boxname=Ol'_103
and I love the idea of using something nearby. Of course this wouldn't be much use out in the forest but for an urban box it sounds dandy. Funhog

This afternoon I planted the majority of the Greenfield Lake boxes. Instead of the stop-and-go car method, I inadvertantly walked the 4 miles around the lake. Somewhere in loading my bag, I forgot my water bottle, only to realize it a mile and a half down the path. Wheels are highly recommended (as is water, but it was a case of water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink).

Exhausted, but so excited!

When you say "Thank you" to anyone under thirty, why do they always respond with "No problem?"

Them: "Here's your change, sir."

Me: "Thank you."

Them: "No problem."

Me: "Of course its no problem! Its my darn change! Why even say that? 'No Problem.' Pshaw! Kids today. Where's my Geritol?"

I think it's in the over-thirty crowd, too. What's worse, to me, though, is this one:

Me: "Thank you." (or, "Excuse me.")

Them: "Uh-huh."

What does that mean??? "Uh-huh, you are excused" or "Uh-huh, you have now thanked me and I am grunting my acknowledgement"? I've even seen the TV news correspondents doing this! Egad.

why somebody would list a letterbox as a Mystery box and then tell you plainly in the clues exactly where it is?

Is there an official definition for 'attempted find'? I really did a search and tried to find the answer. I found a very complicated thread from April 2006. If Boxers and Briefs had been around then, I do believe that thread would have made it to the blog. But, that thread was so long and actually started out as a whole different subject. It would take hours to read it all and I don't have that much Aleve.

Please help me,

Heroes - String Theory

This is most definitely the best show on television today - and tonight's episode was the best of the season (so far). Only three more episodes this season.

Who will save the world?
Will the world be saved?
I don't think the world can be saved since it is not Sylar who is the bomb, it is Peter, and Peter cannot be killed. Or can he? What is this power that Molly has? If she can kill Sylar, can she kill Peter? Do we want Peter to be killed so that this world can be saved?

Future Peter has the teleportation power. Has Peter met Hiro prior to this episode? I can't remember.

The string theory is flawed. It is based on the lie told by Nathan/Sylar that Sylar blew up New York. Save the cheerleader, Save the world was put into motion by future Hiro because he believed that Sylar got the regeneration power and could not be killed.

In the end, I think Peter is going to blow up New York. We'll see, in three weeks.

This placer placed at least two boxes in this park, I have found both. One of which (Paula Zahn, Diamonds Are Forever - CNN's Back To Nature Series 2) has been turned into a geocache.

The Anderson Cooper box had received some publicity:

http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/view_press_release.php?rID=17744

which you can directly link to from here:

http://www.podcacher.com/?p=317

This article has also been referenced here:

http://www.outdoor-weblog.com/50226711/letterboxing_the_grandmother_of_geocaching.

I would assume the inordinate amount of interest in this box are coming from all these links to the same box, and the fact that it is named after a celebrity.

Mr. Yuk

PS - Why is letterboxing the GRANDMOTHER of geocaching? What would be the mother? And why not the grandFATHER?

I'm not doing any heavy lifting at the moment, unless you call a tricky game of Free Cell heavy. ;o)

I'm actually wanting to create a letterbox that requires someone to solve a particular tricky game of Free Cell to access.....

That's a lot of programming effort for just one clue, though. *thinking*

On a hopeful note L.W. Once my boys backpack was stolen out of our car long ago....it was full of all of their fav things, color books, toys, markers, snacks, ect nothing anyone but they would want really!....guess who got their backpack back? It took 3 months but then a phone call came and a drop spot was agreed on....it was weird but I think good karma helps....and the fact that it was a kid pack and they were kind of waiting to get it back and our name address and phone were emblazoned on the thing like 5 times....i was a NEW mom - Now I am not sure what color my kids back packs are ....sad huh?

So keep the faith .... think happy thoughts....it will come back to you some how!!!

happy hunting, enjoy the journey,

OMG, I love that game. At one time in my life I was solving them by starting at one and working my way through. I can't remember how far I got, but some of them are very tricky indeed.

I bow to those of you that can even think of programming let alone program. Good luck.

You want to hear nerdy, one of my professors created an online 'competition' version of the game where you could set the number of free cells between 1 and 8. The person who could win a particular game by using the fewest free cells wins. If more than one person ties for the number of fewest free cells, then the person who does it in the fewest number of cards moving wins. And if there's a tie there, the person who does it first wins.

My professor had won most of the game with four free cells, and I went in and beat him in most of them by using fewer card movements. So he upped the stakes and started winning some of the games with three free cells. So I did the same, but beat him on the number of moves it took it win.

Then he won a couple of games with just TWO free cells. I didn't even think this was possible! Those games were tough, and I managed to beat him. It was war. =) I went back and tried to win some of the games with three free cells and won them with two.

Then he actually won a couple of games with just one free cell. I never did find a way to beat him, but I started trying to win games with just one free cell and won a few myself.

About 15% of the games we were able to win with just one free cell. About 50% of them we were able to win with just two free cells. We never found a game we couldn't win with three free cells. If you played with four free cells, you didn't have a chance of winning!

You become VERY careful about EVERY move you make. Later I went and played Free Cell on Windows with four free cells. The habits I picked up trying to win with just one or two free cells came naturally, and I ended up winning about 75 games in a row without even trying.

I've lost some of my skills, though. My best streak on this computer is only 51 wins in a row. *sigh* Right now, I'm at 12 wins.

I need to play with a couple of free cells for a bit, though. THAT was a really a lot of fun. =)
