When in AK on a trail that was known to have had grizzly bear attacks

Yikes! I stand corrected. I forgot about Alaska. And there can be individuals of various species that can go bad and need to be taken care of, especially if people have been feeding them. There was a coywolf in Nova Scotia I think it was that attacked and killed a hiker.

Just wondering...polar bear are also known to be quite dangerous. Are there any letterboxes in areas that you might come across a polar bear?

The BBQ one is up.

I don't want to list any of the above, as they are not my ideas, but I'm more than happy to host either New Beer's Eve on April 6th (celebrates the end of prohibition) or World Book Day on April 23rd if there's any interest in them.

Doubtful. There's only one box in Greenland and it's at the airport. There are 2 boxes in Finland, one is a driveby at the Santa Claus Village and the other is at another Santa Village. Pretty sure they don't see many free-roaming polar bears at the santa villages, but I could be wrong.

Were all the "ice cream" stamps from the previous event just ice cream cones and bowls of ice cream (circular blobs)?

Nope, here was mine, but it went missing pretty quick.....darn it....oh, as did my donut day one, it never left the house, but was ready to go, then disappeared some where, never have found it, but have looked quite a bit....darn again....

Here is what I carved for the ice cream one:

You mean about hackers getting Yahoo user's passwords? That wouldn't likely have much of an effect on AQ. First, there's nothing of value to hackers on AQ. Even if you did use the same password for both accounts, it seems very unlikely that they'll try to use it to get into AQ. Second, they'd have to know your trailname to log in, not just your Yahoo account name.

As for your bank account.... if your login is the same as it is on Yahoo, I'd change the password ASAP. Otherwise, it's probably no big deal either.

As far passwords and security in general, it never hurts to use different passwords for each of your accounts! Probably more important, though.... don't use easy-to-guess passwords.

Another thing I don't do... You know those security questions that websites will often ask in case you need to reset a password? I never tell the truth on any of them. =) Stuff like what city you were born or what high school you went to is too easy for people to learn from other sources. Use the answers for someone else you know, or create your own secret identity. (I was really born in Pamplona and went to high school at Pamplona High! Right?) Or use the first letter of whatever question they ask you, so "In what city were you born?" the answer would be "iwcwyb". Nobody would EVER guess that! =)

(Just in case you're wondering, neither of those are real answers that I actually use.... they're just examples of the kind of thing I might do to make things more difficult for hackers. But I definitely don't use truthful answers either!)

It's remarkable to me that people would ever tell the truth on these things. *shaking head*

Ok Renton. As I said I live in Snohomish. I work in Tukwila. Tukwila is neselled in between Renton and SeaTac.I just want to let you know that the trade up for living in those great comunities, in cluding Mukeliteo, is that the comute to the south end of lake washington is a night mare. It is all about timing. I try to drop my daughter off at the B&G club by 6AM so I can get to work just alittle past 7. If I drop her off later or she forget her backpack, then I get there between 730 and 8. The I405 loop around the East side of the lake is a tough comute. With that being said, not to discurage you, being in Redmond or Kirkland is a better comute, but still you would want to go in the 5 or early 6 am hour, after that it gets not nice.If I leave at 3 the comute is ok, and 330 it is tolerable. It is just starting to crowd not to mention the shift change at the Renton Plant puts a lot of presure on that area. I would recomemend Redmond/Kirkland for the Renton Everett Comute, only for the reason the both of you would have simular comutes so neither one of you would start feeling jealous of the other. I'm not going to pry, but if you have any Microsoft Conections, Microsoft has a bus service in certain areas, that is better than driving. If you are Boeing, I'm not certain about any comuting other than Metro, but they have plenty of free parking, just have to trek a ways most of the time. But they do have a parking lot shuttle. Never the less I have a 50mile comute one way, and it is one hour on a good day, and two hours on a less than good day. It is a toss up if I have a good day or not. Yes, the traffic has made me a pesimist, but then my company was located in woodinville, which is 10 miles from Snohomish, now they moved in November to Interurban, the little nitch just north of the south end I405/I5 interchange near the Airport. No mater if I drive I5 or the 405, Traffic here can suck.

Now, You have mountains just an hour out of seattle. You have the Cascades to the East and the Olympics on the Penisula. You have the Puget Sound. You have the Pacific Ocen beaches just a few hours away. BC Canada just a few hours away. By our last figure you have most of the states 4+ thousand boxes in a 100 mile radius of Seattle. I personaly planted over 300 of them. We have great sports teams, grat arts and comuity programs. We have 3 national parks, + a tiny national museum, the gold rush, National monument, Mt St Hellens, West side of the state is more green and lush, the East side of the state is more High Desert and agriculture. We have some great natural wonders, thousands of miles of trails paved and not. Hikers paradise. Water players paradise, techy, foody, artsy, heck it is paradise. You can walk, yes walk in Downtown Seattle, and see something new each time. Wecome to Washington.

On this day in 1861, Texas becomes the seventh state to secede from the Union when a state convention votes 166 to 8 in favor of the measure. The Texans who voted to leave the Union did so over the objections of their governor, Sam Houston, a staunch Unionist. Texas was the last state to leave the Union before Lincoln took office.

Submitted for your consideration,

Anyone who wants to list any of the other ideas I tossed out there, feel free!

I am willing to carve for the bunnies and gnomes ideas, too.

I am on vacation July 4, but I can carve something and let someone else plant a BBQ stamp.

When in AK on a trail that was known to have had grizzly bear attacks we opted out on a box after hiking for a bit in those qtip pines you can't see thru. No bear spray nor Smith and Wesson. This comes from someone who doesn't leave boxes behind. Just didn't feel good about situation at hand.

I agree. It is "different" boxing up there. I have been thrown off my game more than once in Alaska.
