H and I had some fun with the pink dragon while R was at a meeting at Chapel Hill yesterday.

Aww... I live in Chapelboro. Thursday is my day off, but yesterday was a busy day for me.

Glad that you enjoyed the day over here!

Oh, I did not know that! It would have been neat to meet. We only had about two hours, anyway, though. H and I hope to meet tpd again when R has to head to Cary. If that is a Thursday, maybe...?

You guys might need to try a heavier gauge needle cut off a bit shorter so it doesn't stick out of the pin vise so far. That way, you should have enough control to force it to cut in whatever direction you want, even if the cutting edge isn't perfectly aligned with the cut you're trying to make.

Yeah -- and it's not as though something similar couldn't happen today. We tell ourselves that it couldn't, but really we're nearly as bound up in superstitious nonsense today as they were then.

The illness and initial symptoms have been attributed to ergot poisoning from grain (LSD roots):

Ergot Poisoning -- Witch Trials

Which doesn't mean that drugs can't lead to something else.

Can anyone say Charles Manson & family?

OK! GrannyB & I are kicking around the idea of the 1st outdoor Ohio event for 2013 sometime end of April/ 1st of May! We are thinking stamps of Zane Grey-John Glenn-OU Bobcat logo-a covered bridge-a soda fountain scene? And another idea we've got is asking anyone/everyone if they would like to donate a small stamp (3x3 max) of anything to be planted permanently in a certain cemetery we're looking at?? Give us some feedback & don't be surprised if the event gets announced in the middle of the month?!

Very true. Another part of history that fascinates me is the great plague, or black plague, around 1347-1350. Some of the deaths at that time were due to superstition and fear, not just due to a horrible malady.

Should you have to "force" it, though? Right now, when I force it, because the shape of the tip is essentially a half moon, the round part of the tip of the needle really wants to steer which is what gives me problems. This is even using the tippiest part of the tip - no more than half a millimetre.

I can't see anyone's plant trophies anymore.

I tried logging into your account and looked at the message boards, and I could see the trophies just fine.

I can look into it further, but at this point, it would help if I knew what page you were looking at (post the URL) and point out where you think there should be a trophy but don't see one.

Ryan, I can see your trophy in this thread, but I can't see the original poster's. I checked to see if he has plants, and he does. When I go to his logbook, the trophy icon doesn't display...

I haven't noticed the problem happening anywhere else yet.

I can see your trophy in this thread, but I can't see the original poster's.

You need at least 10 plants before you get a trophy, and the original poster doesn't have that many plants yet. Perhaps that's the problem? The original planter thought you get a trophy after just the first plant?

Aah, we do not box as often as many, so do not be jelli. I am simply enjoying the start if my new decade. When you are all better, and I get back to "normal," you may very well blow right by the green and the pink while I am experiencing my regular life and enjoy letterboxing vicariously through others' photographs. 8^)

Prayers for fast healing!

PS I like how your worked the green into that. LOL.

What a grand idea!! Bring on spring - bring on the stamps - bring on the events!!

I could possibly carve a covered bridge. Also would be willing to donate a 3x3 stamp for a permanent cemetery plant. Add me to your list of carvers and let me know.

Some people were saying there are GPS coordinates in the poem but I dunnnnnnno. I don't think he's into all that.

And remember he said after he hid it he "walked back to his car". I keep going back to that in my head.

I probably shouldn't start my shopping list just yet.

We need eevil letterboxing minds working on this. Where are the eevil minds???

Didn't it say somewhere that he took 6 years to find the spot and write the clues? To me, that means that there is indeed something beyond the surface ambiguities of the poem, though it's probably more likely to be a unique location that works with his wording than some sort of complicated code.

Hi there - this is highlysung of what used to be Team SuddenTurkey. I've been away from letterboxing for a few years and am sneaking back just now. The "Team SuddenTurkey" name is retired - our new name is Team Laugh-a-Lot, and includes me: highlysung, and my daughter Cheeseburger Slayer (a few of you may remember me being pregnant with her back in the days of the first Plant-a-Palooza and Boxtoberfest 2004. So, now it's just the two of us, and we're excited to add letterboxing to our lives. I just planted a box for her (and everyone) yesterday, and she wants to plant more. I don't know if the game has changed much since I last played. Any tips are welcome, and we'd love to join in any upcoming events. It's nice to see many familiar names still here!
