I use one of Kirbert's reverse Staedtlers. I'm carving letters with it now! :)

What the heck is a reverse Staedtler?

But I do think it's funny that the more I practice the slower I'm actually getting! LOL!

You may be getting slower, but you still pump out five LTCs for every one I get finished!

No, Starfleet Command accepts fans of all series. Even Enterprise! :)

Even this version of Star Trek?

I have two series to plant in the valley on this visit and am so excited to do lots of letterboxing while I am there! Let me know if any of you have time! Thanks!

All this info has me feeling like I need to go back to the drawing, er, carving board. I've never carved OZ, I've never (that I know of) carved FirmKut, and all the great advice about transfer has not worked for me. If I could just get that worked out, I'd feel a lot better about my carving. I've been avoiding carving for a while now. One thing I wanted to say about PZ Orange, which I have really liked, is that because it was translucent, I could put it on my lightbox to carve, and it was much easier to tell where I had carved versus where I hadn't, with the illumination. That was awesome.

Thinking I need to order some stuff, aT

Xylene is for laser/toner copies, not inkjet. Also, I find that the newer machines don't release their toner with this method as well as older ones do. I had been using pencil transfer since the demise of my local "old" printers until I tried the parchment transfer method on Kirbert's website using my inkjet printer. That method rocks.

Yeah, it's funny, I haven't seen many of the DVD extras. My brother and I have been avid fans since the late 70s, so the tape collection we amassed was always "ours", but then he started buying some on DVD, and the VHS all became mine by default. As a consequence, I've never gotten a single DVD, since they would just duplicate the collection I already have. Not that I watch those tapes too often these days, but I go back once in a while when something in the new series reminds me of and old story and I want to revisit. At this point, the three episodes of Planet Of Giants from the First Doctor are the only episodes in existence that I've never seen.

We did visit the theatre but spoke with a young lady who was volunteering. I did ask her if she knew a volunteer named Troy, but struck out with that. Perhaps our paths will cross at the Monster Mash this Saturday.

no one noticed the building size statue walking through the city???

No one remembered the steampunk robot walking through London. But that was another issue.

I've never carved on PZ Orange. How was it different from PZ, other than color?

I only tried PZ White a couple of times, and it was with almost no experience carving - so take this with a large grain of salt.

The biggest difference I noticed was in the PZ White being significantly more opaque. Given the semi-transparency in the Orange, a knife cut just looked different from the material around it. It was easy to tell the location of the cut and how deep it was going. That was a big help in controlling depth of cut.

That's for a knife cut. For gouge carvers, I don't remember anyone ever saying they found a significant advantage in it.

Just recently, I've started to notice that the pink stuff shows a little bit of that same effect. At least on shallow cuts.

in a city that big had eyes on the Statue of Liberty for the entire time it took for her to walk over to the building where Amy and Rory were on the roof.

And were none of the other Angels watching as it walked?

In geocaching, the geocachers who buy a premium membership get access to caches that are restricted to other premium members. I'm wondering if an Atlas Quest premium membership also has a similar perk for letterboxers. I don't see that listed as one of the premium membership benefits, so I'm guessing no. But just to be sure, does an AQ premium membership give you access to letterboxes restricted to premium members only?

I was thrilled that we finished the challenge also. Just waiting for my patch now. When will they announce who won the weekend getaway?

The winner has been chosen and notified, they are just waiting for that person to return confirmation that they accepted the prize before they make the official announcement. So if you have not been notified, I'm afraid you haven't won the prize. But you'll be getting your patches soon! :)

That said, the Klingon version had be in stitches!

Agreed!

They must have got the local Star Trek club in on it. They had a mixture of uniforms; TOS, TNG and movie (TWOK).

It took me a while to place Data's dance, but I finally remembered where I'd seen it before: at 3:39 in. It's probably from somewhere else originally.

Did you notice the scene where the klingon was drowning the tribble?

Yes, one of the options for people listing boxes is to restrict them to premium members. The number of such boxes is pretty small, however.

I know that you can restrict boxes to Premium Members only, but I've never done it. There was only 1 box that I noticed near me that appeared magically after I paid for a Premium Membership. Because AQ doesn't tell you what the restrictions are on a box, just that there are, you might not notice.
