It's hot as hades here in NC!

If only we could trade a little of our cold for a little of your hot, we would both end up comfortable. It's the heart of winter here, and we are going through a cold snap.

My power is back on, and so is the a/c! Huge storms blew through here Friday night, knocking out the power all around me in WV, DC, MD, and PA. It was out for 30 hours, which I suppose isn't all that long, but it was a HOT 30 hours. All the cats are laying next to vents now. :) Now we just need to get cable restored...

Any suggestions on what adhesive works best to affix a hard foam or wood base to a pink-stuff stamp? I've been given several suggestions, but none have worked too well.....? HELP! I'm grateful and open-minded to your suggestions!

I've had success with Gorilla glue (keep in mind it expands when it dries so a dab will do you). Recently using Goop with success. My .02

Make sure your macaroni is cold before adding any mayo. The mayo will be absorbed more quickly if added while the mac. is hot. Also keep some may in reserve to add the day of serving.

Here's a quick event update for all our Grateful Friends:

The ship of fools is on course with fair winds blowing, sails trimmed and all hands on deck! The event stamp has been completed, 42 boxes are in place with another 7 hitting the waters tomorrow. A dozen more will be at port for an evening quest, while another 24 -28 will be available at different campsites. I expect more Tom Foolery will pop up along Grateful Row as well!!! We hope to see many of you in just a week or so!

Fun clues and treasure maps are in the making. LTCs are almost all in and raffle donations are starting to pile up. Clues will be made available to all Grateful Letterboxers (if all goes well) on or before 7/7 and printed clues packets will be passed out on 7/14. Thanks to all you wonderful helpers! The ship of fools would be listing hard to port and veering off course without your assistance!!!

So, start packing your gear and plan to be here! It's gonna be a boatload of fun!!!!!!!! ;o)

Pete

Gorilla Glue for the win! :-D

Yes it expands, I use a toothpick to spread it in a thin layer on the back of the stamp. Stick the stamp onto the backing and press for 24 hours under one of the seasonal hardbound catalogs that Cabelas sends me twice a year. E6000 glue works very well, too. And even though it doesn't expand, I still prefer to press the stamp & backing under a Cabela's catalog until the glue cures.

No separation anxiety here,

Oh, would that I could attend! This sounds like TOO much fun. Is that even possible? :o
And if I did, my Ship of Fools would be bass-ackwards: bow right, just for spite!

I would lend a hand to raise a flag atop this ship of fools!

Just thought I'd share this little idea that I had to keep my three year old nephew busy for a while...

For the fourth of July I am creating a series of five letterboxes him to find. I will be hiding them around the yard in places that he is familiar with. For example, in the mailbox, or under the green chair; nothing too complicated. Each box is going to have three clues. Each clue will be a sentence supplemented by pictures of specific things, eg. a yellow flower, a watering can. Instead of stamps, because I don't have any at the moment, I am going to use stickers that he can put into a little sticker book that I am going to make for him.

I very excited and I hope he enjoys it.

I use rubber cement to glue the pink stuff to thick craft foam. The trick is to apply it to both surfaces - then let it dry before putting them together.

I use rubber cement

This is also my preference. Contact Cement from a hardware store. Not Elmers contact glue like at Wal-Mart. I leave the foam a little larger, then after gluing together I trim the foam.

I used E6000 on my last stamp and it worked great and dried quickly. It doesn't expand like the gorilla glue which is good for those who over-dab.

Mini Mouse - also open to other recommendations!

You just gotta love enablers. Truth be told I would love to have a boxing buddy for the day. My mother-in-law is not a boxer and does not get around too well so I am on the trails alone unless I have a local partner in crime. I will say though I do need to know for sure if I will be boxing with anyone else because that will determine what I pack that is letterbox related. I think the last event I attended I packed more LB related stuff than clothing. My backpack, Personal Travelers, Activated Event Boxes, LTC’s, etc. Although with the heat and luggage considerations I don’t want to bring my hiking boots so I will be focusing on boxes that will not leave me on a mountain top dying from heat exhaustion. The airlines should make special accommodations for the LB community!
