I enjoy traveling up & down the CA coast. Our state has so much to see & do!
San Diego is a great city...Balboa Park, The Wild Animal Park...great food (Little Italy) & spas!
Or there's San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay.
Or Big Bear
Or Palm Springs

...I could go on & on :)

I've done a related HH twice now for the FF. I know I personally love to find HH's, so that'd be the best FF gift to me-- well, aside from the $100 bills...

PI Joe, I got the mini iron at Walmart in the sewing department over by the patches; it's a Tulip Fashion Art iron-on product and the perfect size for transferring.

I use one of these, too. Got mine on e-bay, though. I've had it for four years and I use it almost exclusively for transfers (I only use pencil on carving medium that can't stand the heat.)

I'll be at Dragon Con again this year with one of my besties, MermaidAmy. We've got a hotel room and plan to stay the weekend without kids or husbands. (YAY!) The lines didn't bother me bc I was so busy people watching.

If the human periodic table follows the 300 guys in the parade, sign me up. *Note to self, shields on the left, stand on the right. ;)

Local boxer at Dragon Con last year tried to figure out a way to actually wear the letterbox as part of her costume (steampunk jewelry), but we just couldn't figure out how to make it work logistically. She won her costume division!

Lots of us go downtown for the parade. A couple of temporary boxes at DragonCon would be great!

Another big draw that weekend is the Decatur Book Festival. Lots of the authors at Dragon Con try to attend both events.

Tonight we did our annual evening of Shakespeare in the park. "Othello" made for a cold evening and when the drizzle kicked in, a short one. With the wet stage, the play was canceled during the intermission. We were left hanging, with all kinds of impending doom about to play out. We will have to make it back b/f June 17. As usual, the production was well done, I would definitely recommend this fun evening out. There are pre-show activities which keep all ages entertained.
Cheers to Rozebud and her staff for doing such a great event every year. We have been lucky enough to have made it to all, but the first production. Oh and did I mention it is FREE? And if that doesn't get you packing a picnic dinner, perhaps a reminder of the Bard letterbox in the information tent. Something for everyone!

I bought an empty pocket watch at Hobby Lobby sort of like this one. Except mine is brass and has more metal on the face. Anyway there's a little clear cover on the inside. I made a small stamp for a traveler that fits inside, printed out a related picture that fits inside the clear plastic and there you go a stamp hidden inside a pocket watch. If she found one with more metal on the top cover she could add embellishments to it that would make it more steam punk. ^_^

We love Dragon Con and I would definitely be interested in temporary boxes, though getting at them with all the muggles around would be a huge challenge. BTW, my son loves the human periodic table!

Today is PawPaw's 70th birthday. In honor of the special day you are invite to participate in his virtual birthday party. Just send a greeting to gbarber@bellsouth.net. He is having some rough days right now as he battles an infection in his lungs. This would be a great way to let him know that you are thinking of him. Just include in the subject line, "dropping by for your party....!"

I'd say replant. There is no hurry. They don't need to go out this minute. Take your time and enjoy the options that are now available to you......and congratulations on the recovery.

A few years ago Independance Oaks asked me to help them
by reading/writing their policy on boxes in the park.
They were setting up geocaching trailways.
I'd check the website of the park you want to place at.
Kensington has a few boxes, but I don't know about their policies.

Nightly except Tuesdays through June 17. Info tent is open from 5:30 - 9:30, more or less...I'd recommend getting there at 5:30 to stamp up all the stamps in time to watch the Green Show at 6:30...and to find a good spot to sit.

OK, y'all should let me know when you are coming... on SOME nights (some!) I can get you in the VIP parking. Not every night, no promises...but when I can, I will totally hook up my boxing buddies. Toasters knows what I'm talkin' about... :-)

More info: www.sfstl.com. See you in Forest Park!

I don't know if you and your friends like camping, but my favorite campground is Hendy Woods out near Boonville and Philo (on the way to Mendocino). Great hiking, lots of wine and beer tasting, canoeing on the Big River (or possibly the Navarro River).

Any chance you'll be in the Charlotte area on 6/23?

I have plans with friends that weekend, but would like to see some letterboxing friends in the Western part of the state sometime towards the end of June....

I know you mentioned a trip...when will you be around this summer?

We went out recently to Northeast Park and really enjoyed the boxes out there! I sent Safari Man some notes- some of his boxes did need repair and I replaced baggies until I ran out- so most of them have new baggies now.

Yes...I got the notes as well as I am his contact person for those boxes. I appreciate you looking after them. I checked them all before I left for Denmark, but it seems they needed some help after the winter months. Thank you for doing maintenance.

I have an old college friend that lives in Gibsonville and he is wanting to meet up while I am in NC. Maybe a coffee and a trail or two at Northeast will be perfect. We can visit, hike, and I can do some checking on boxes :o)

In any event, if you make it there before or after I do, thatnks agin for your help.
Turtlelove :o)
