I can see a stoplight/maintain status on my boxes from the main page of the clues. Possible bug for GT to fix?

You're supposed to be able to maintain the status on your boxes. Why would you think that's a bug that needs fixing?

Do you really want to set yourself up like that? ;)

Don't you have a list of 75 plus versions? One of my all time favorites: "the blind three piece dinner."

IMHO: Hitchhikers and their logbooks need to be small ... so that they fit into a variety of letterboxes. However you make your logbook is up to you.

There used to be a Maintain Box function that would add a Green Bold Italic listing showing maintenance by the owner.
for now, I just set the status to Unavailable and put a comment that the box was out for maintenance. That will have to do.

I'm sure your opinion might be different if you were in an area that depended on plants from "outsiders."

I couldn't agree more.

Feel free one and all to orphan some boxes in my area, I'll take care of them!

For the first time in a long time, Siamese and I went letterboxing here in FL, the last day of 2011. The 3 boxes we found are in worse shape than we are. Looked like vandalism to us...maybe an angry geocacher.

Did you make it all the way up 'til Midnight, Dina B? I believe she's typically more the 6am "good morning" type. :)

I planted 3 this summer when we went cross-country for a family reunion (they haven't been found yet....will people go boxing in NE please???). Also plant when we go on vacation to the beach. I figure if I'm going somewhere on vacation to find letterboxes, I can at least return the favor and plant some for others, including the ones who planted the ones I found.... Plus, if it's where I'll return to vacation in the future, I can enjoy maintaining my boxes while out boxing.
I'm also always appreciative of those who help me maintain my box, wherever it's planted!

Oddly enough, I very rarely get offers to adopt any of my boxes. Doesn't bother me much, but I am a bit surprised. I'd think that more boxers would be up for adopting boxes in their area. That's something even newbies can do, before they've built up enough confidence to plant their own boxes.

Are there any boxers that frequent the Brewton area? I'm thinking not, since I didn't find any boxes listed there. Still, on my way through today I stopped at the airport S of town, and it's a beaut! There was an aerobatic club there, and they were taking turns flying around in the sky doing loops and rolls while others on the ground chatted with them via radio and told them how they were doing. Wanted to plant one of my airport boxes, but alas we were pressed for time and I didn't see a convenient hiding spot right off. Plus, it'd probably be better to check with the administrator of the airport itself, presuming it'd end up on airport property, and I didn't have time to go through that.

I can also report that just up the road -- just within the town limits of East Brewton -- is one of the best BBQ joints we've ever visited, a place called Hog Heaven. Simply awesome ribs. The wife described the ambience: "As soon as you walk in, you think the food's gotta be really good!" They clearly didn't spend anything on overhead.

Anyhow, if you're up for planting a box for me within walking distance of the Brewton Municipal Airport, drop me a note. Thanks!
