I use Y'all on occasions. I don't have the accent for it though.

But being from eastern Ohio, half of my family says: "You-uns". Hard to explain, but that's pronounced all in one syllable. Comes out sorta like "Uens"

Me, too, though when I get back to NC, I can feel the accent creeping back. I tend to slip back into it when I'm around people who talk that way.

I was just in Charlotte for the day yesterday and I didn't have time to letterbox. I went out to Union Grove, NC with my Mom, Cousin and 95 year-old Granny. We were in search of the Amish Grocery store there. We finally found it on a backroads search that rivalled any mystery letterbox hunt. It was absolutely fantastic. Those folks have gone wild with the dehydrator and I was able to pick up a ton of stuff to make my own trail food for backpacking. All kinds of dried fruit and veggies. And the prices were very cheap! Better than buying that crazy expensive stuff at the outdoor provision stores. And the JAMS and JELLIES! WOW! Plus every kind of Pickled whatever you can think of...pickled Mushrooms, Baby Corn, Okra, Peppers, Chow Chow (it's like a relish), Garlic, I can't remember them all. Plus homemade cheeses and butter! Homemade oatmeal cream cookies and the BREADS! I am munching on a pumpkin bread right now that is to die for. :-) But the highlight of the day was driving past Fork in the Road. I took pictures...maybe to send in to the Tonight Show. There is an actual Road in NC named "Fork in the!" I might have to put a letterbox out there.

A friend, wanting to see my list of founds, reported that he couldn't and that the message was "Sorry, there are no entries at this time." I have found but not planted. He didn't think to hit the down arrow in the text box. Very understandable.

How about using the phrases, Planted Normal and Found Normal instead of just Normal?

New Arrival!
It"s a Girl!!
Trail Name: Evenstar
birth date: 6-30-05
time: 5:21 pm
weight: 7 lbs 3 oz
length: 20 1'2 "
Hair: brown
face: angelic

I was Induced (pitocin started) around 11 am Thursday morning. The flood gate was manually opened by the doctor around 12:30 pm (followed immediately by a much needed epidural). At around 4:20 I was 5 cm dialated (the pitocin had been stalled for 1 hour). I sent my husband home to shower since he had come directly from work. They started the pitocin again and about 20 min later they were calling the doctor. My dad had to go get my husband at my house (still in the shower). I had to hold the baby in until the men got there! The doctor was the last to arrive. That was the hardest part. She was coming and I wasn't even pushing. I pushed 3-4 times and she was out! We're doing great now despite the sleep deprivation. She's perfect and healthy, and her big brother even likes her.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!

Does anyone know if this letterbox is still around? It's one of Jolly G-Man's, placed in 2001. With those hurricanes, probably not, but Land Shark was still around...

Unauthorized paraphernalia inside my box's!!!

This will be a cross post. So I’ll apologize for it now.

I have been informed by a very reliable source that someone has been placing unauthorized paraphernalia in local letterboxes! If anyone finds anything in my letterboxes that is obviously not related to letterboxing, would you please remove it from the box. I will try to get out this week and check on most of them but with over 50 + boxes that will be difficult to get them all in a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks,

I tried that, but it kind of got awkward to use the drop down list when I did that.

However, in the next big update I'm planning, I have updated the generic "Sorry, there are no entries at this time" to read "Sorry, this person has not listed any planted letterboxes" on that screen so it's clear one is looking at the planted listings page rather than the found listings.

Hmm...they are interns...so maybe they are just young and inexperienced in the ways of the woods/orienteering/navigating? Not all of us were born with our hiking boots on... Of course, you would think bug spray would be a given.

Perhaps they need a letterboxing guide until they get their "LB Vision."

Well initially this site had too many bells and whistles for me but now I'm a convert! How about a stock ticker ;-)
One more sensible consideration: I recently got a friend sign up with Atlasquest and she completed the profile. She did not apprear on the Updated Profiles, presumably as she is the egg icon, a newbie. Could the newbies be included? Would they want to be included? On some yahoo lists one gets a friendly howdy from the established users when you first sign up... "New & Updated Profiles" ?
