Can anyone tell me the name of the episode where Maggie thinks she is Nancy Drew?

--Amanda from Seattle

Of course, courtesy of another fan (of Nancy Drew, too). I do like the episode, part of season 5.

Another thought, though I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, is to safely hide it nearby, and notify the placer of the new (temporary) location.

That was going to be my suggestion! I would hide it nearby, though out sight of people, and I would make additional directions from original hiding spot.
If the box has been abandoned and you can't get placer to respond... would you post the clues from the original hiding spot on a board???
I would hate for someone to go searching for it while your trying to get a hold of placer...

I may be giving away my politics, but I just ordered my Kinky for governor merchandise (hey I live in Texas, where you gotta have a sense of humor if you're moderate or lean left) and I'm wondering if anyone else has read the candidate's books? Or, I guess listened to his music, but that should probably go on another board.

One year my mom got me an autographed Kinky mystery for my birthday. I loved it. Can't wait for my t-shirt (actually, a birthday present for my dad who lives elsewhere) and hat (which I will proudly wear) to get here.

Christmas Postal

I'd like to start a Christmas postal. I know it's early to be thinking of Christmas. But I thought I'd toss out the idea and see if I could get any takers.

I'm going to carve a Santa stamp (Or I might come up with another design) I'll use it to make my Christmas cards this year. Then I'll mail it out in the ring.

I want to start it early. I know sometimes it takes a stamp a few months to get around a ring.

So, anybody interested in making cards with me this year?

Let me know if you're interested...or if you have any suggestions

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the person is a boxer considering that they also posted to the LbPNW, LbNCA, and LbNE boards. It's very odd to see the same message get hit on all these letterboxing boards if it wasn't really a letterboxer!

Though the person can certainly be accused of cross posting, I'm thinking it's probably legit. =)

husband store

There's a store in the city where a woman may go to choose a husband from among many men. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. There are only 6 floors. It states that the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. However, as your open the door to any floor you may choose any man from that floor, but if you go up a floor, you cannot go back down except to exit the building. So a woman goes to the store to find a husband. On the 1st floor the sign reads-these men have jobs. 2nd floor sign reads-these men have jobs and love kids. 3rd floor reads-these men have jobs, love kids and are extremely good looking. "Wow", she thinks but keeps going up. 4th floor reads-these men have jobs, love kids, are drop dead gorgeous and help with housework. "Oh mercy me!", she exclaims. Still she goes to the 5th floor and the sign reads-these men have jobs, love kids, are drop dead gorgeous, help with house work and have a strong romantic streak. She's so tempted to stay but goes to the 6th floor where the sign reads- you are visitor 3,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the husband store. Watch you step as you exit the building and have a nice day!

I'm sure it is. I thought it might be when I saw the post on the LbSe yahoo group. I was pretty certain when I heard it was also here on AQ. I'm really sure now, hearing that it's been crossed on to many lbxg groups.

It's been kinda amusing seeing who's gotten annoyed thinking it was spam, who ignored it, and who got curious.

They also posted on the Great Lakes list. The Yahoo ID was just created a week ago. Since we have moderated membership at the Great Lakes list, they had to give a reason why they wanted to join before being approved. It said simply, "I have secrets to share."

I was a bit unsure and placed them on moderation right away after joining. I was aware they had posted on various LB Yahoo lists, but still was skeptical as they could have posted on many Yahoo! lists, not just letterboxing ones. I actually deleted the message at Great Lakes, thinking it was SPAM. But that fact that they have posted at AtlasQuest also, leads me to agree with Funhog in thinking that it may be some kind of a cryptic lead-in to great letterboxing fun.

Quote I actually deleted the message at Great Lakes, thinking it was SPAM.

I was kind of wondering that at first too until I checked my e-mail and saw the same message waiting to be approved on the three Yahoo Groups I have ownership of. I still wasn't 100% comfortable about it, though, and even then I thought it was a gross misuse of cross posting which I'm not really fond of in the first place.

So I let the post on AQ stay and let the ones on the Yahoo Groups waiting for moderation simmer a bit to see what panned out. When Funhog said the message was also posted to the Underground, that's when I was sure it had to be completely legit. Even many experienced letterboxers don't even know about the Letterboxing Underground! There's definitely a letterboxer who's the mastermind of the posts. Can't tell you who (cause I don't know--though I did see the person's IP address show up on AQ as far back as January), but I'm am curious about what's going on myself. =)

So I finally decided to approve the posts on the Yahoo Groups. The one on the Northern California board looks like it was deleted! Guess one of my moderators or co-owner saw it and deleted it as spam. The Northeast board I really don't pay any attention to anymore and let TeamGreenDragon and moderators worry about what they wanted to do. So of the three groups I have ownership of, only the Pacific NW did I finally approve the message. (Left the guy on a moderated status, however, since I don't really like his cross-posting ways and may not let future posts go through.)

Interesting to see what happens, though. =)

I sent a message to the email address and in return got an autoresponse to send to a second email address. Sending to that one yielded a second autoresponse that had a reference that I can at least tie to a current Mystery Box so if you are curious, send your own message and start hunting. Bottom line, seems legit enough to me.

Yes, Terracaching is a variation on geocaching; another URL to log caches and finds, although unlike AtlasQuest and LBNA, they frown on cross-listing.

We are active with both GC & TC -- kinda like hamburgers and steak -- two different dishes from the same source! TC does strive for more difficult caches, either involving puzzles, longer hikes, etc. They were set up primarily for cachers who are tired of drive-up lightpole caches!

"Hey can I bogart in on an exchange???"

Max: I am confused about "bogart" ...
According to Amanda's definition, it is a slang verb essentially meaning to hoard something without sharing. At least that's what I read. Also the example of keeping the joint to one's self and not sharing it supports that.

However, as used in the sentence above, it comes across as ... "Hey, can I BARGE IN on this exchange between you two guys?" or "May I PARTICIPATE in this exchange?"

What gives? Are you bogarting the definition of bogart?

A few weeks ago, someone started a thread on how to ID a fellow LB'er. I think the proposal on the table was to ask the question "which way is North?" And the counter sign was "Straight up" while pointing to the sky. Was that whole thing ever resolved?

We have been here in CO for the week and have encounted folks on trails that perhaps could be LB'ers, and I have asked "Which way North" and they usually point to North with the hand/arm parallel to the horizon instead of straight up.
So what was the final resolution?
