I think this is so cool. :-) Congratulations!

And I have to agree...I think this one will be low on the priority list for me, if you don't mind. But, I might tell my brother in law's unit about it! :-) We'll have to see if you get any traffic for it.

Me, too, but I think it's awesome that it's there.

Come to think of it, my nephew's going into the Army next month, so maybe he'll get there. (Not *hoping* he'll get there, mind you, but if he does, I'll have to tell him to get the box!)

Thanks everyone for all the hugs and thoughts and blessings, I think it's helping! I managed to only think and focus only on myself in my yoga class last night for a whole hour and a half and I found a huge inner peace that I'd been missing and I've managed to hold on to it to remind me to be at peace and to relax. Not to mention I did a handstand for the first time, so I had something to be really excited about FOR ME!!! I didn't realize how badly I needed to concentrate on me in order to help me and my man. But at the end when we relaxed and focused inward, I felt a huge amount of energy inside of me (I think it was even vibrating) and I think it's because so many people were thinking about me and wishing me well, so thank you all!

Wow that sounded hippy-ish, lol!!!

We talked a lot last night and I think I've got him a little bit more calmed down. He knows what I'm working on and he knows what he needs to do now too. He knows that I'm going to surprise him tonight when he gets home with how much I'll get done while he's at his second job. I get so much more done when he's not in my way! It's all going to fall into place b/c we're keeping each other thinking positively and as someone pointed out to me, we've paid our dues in the BS column and when you're doing something right, it just happens for you.

And maybe, just maybe, by this time next week, we'll be all moved in and thinking about doing things to our home that we've never been able to do before b/c it wasn't ours! Like painting and stuff! And we're going to have a real tree and decorate the whole house with our meager supplies of decorations, it's going to be wonderful I'm sure, as soon as we wade thru the not fun stuff and get the keys.

Thanks for the info about your experiences with the GPS 60. My husband and I are starting to talk about upgrading. Wish they would just upgrade the GPS V - give it a color screen, up the number of waypoints to 1000 and up the amount of storage space for more map capacity. Maybe I should email Garmin.

My husband seems to be pretty happy with the 60, but he is the cacher in the family. He loves being able to keep tons of waypoints and tons of maps in the thing. I think the usability issues are less important to him than they are to me. He is wanting to upgrade the software now (mapsource, I think?) to the latest version but I don't know if that would help my issues any.

If you want more info about the 60, you can aq-mail ArmorGuy and ask him directly. He could definitely give you more details than I could.

I also make gift tags but I bought a tag shaped paper punch so I don't have to cut!

Hi. I am new to this postal letterboxing. I have signed up for a newbie ring. I would like to join other rings (or whatever they are called). But I guess I don't understand. How can I tell if I need to carve a stamp or just use one stamp (signature stamp?)? Will they say that you need to carve a stamp to fit the theme?

Thank you,
Cedar

By definition, rings are PLBs where everyone carves their own stamp for the theme. From the AQ Glossary:
"There is often a long wait to receive a single postal letterbox if you're way down on the bottom of the list to receive one, so postal rings were created to make sure everyone had a steady supply of postals in their mailbox. A group of letterboxers get together and each one contributes a postal box to the ring. Every time you receive a postal, you stamp in then forward it along to the next person in the ring. For more details about postal rings, visit our Postal Letterboxing FAQ or Postal Letterboxing board."

:-) Happy carving!

If it is listed as a ring, then you will need to carve a stamp based on the theme, as will everyone else in the ring. If it is a single, it is just one postal that you stamp into and send it on. Just watch the postal board for announcements about new rings and singles.

If you are interested in a single postal, I have one open for sign-ups. Check out the link, and if you are interested, let me know. :) http://www.atlasquest.com/boards/message.html?gMsgId=53752;gThreadId=9259

...anyone interested in a late-spring/early-summer gathering somewhere with beer and food? I'm concerned at how the presence of alcohol might effect the ability of children to attend - thus effecting the possibility of adults attending. On top of that, the, uh, theme, shall we say, may lend to a few... mature stamps... I say "may" lead - doesn't necessarily mean it "will" lead. Any quick initial thoughts, anyone?

If its a picnic where beer will be served, I dont have a problem with it....as long as there are other drinks available for non drinkers. If its meant to be adult only I think if you just label it as such there shouldnt be a problem. As for the stamps, if people provide the appropriate warnings on the stamps that they may be for mature audiences I think people are ok with that....I would be.... Personally since we have not been able to make a gathering yet :-( I am looking for a family friendly one for our first....I keep telling my kids how much fun they will have at one, they get to cootie people and all that....

I am super bummed that I cant make tommorows at Sprite and Highlanders...since indirectly it was my idea.... (big sad face here)....i dont know if i can wait till summer.....

If you can look at the clues and determine a "short cut", I don't think it's cheating. It is resourceful to be able to do that. The only thing you might be cheating yourself of is a nice hike, but it's still a legitimate way to find the letterbox, IMHO

Anyone considering hunting the Biltmore Legerdemaine stamp while up there? I missed it once and never thought I'd get another try, but if the rates are discounted that month, well, I may have another opportunity.

A Crater of Diamonds has arrived in England! Yippee :-)

I thought you might like to know that Shiloh's HH - Crater of Diamonds - has arrived on my doorstep today. I am so excited, and I can't wait to plant it. Mine has arrived in Arkansas and Shiloh has planted it, so everyone get down to Arkansas and start hunting :-)

It is so exciting getting parcels through the post isn't it. I never dreamt I would one day get letterboxes through the letterbox :-D
