Quote Oh, my gosh--we just did this in freezing cold wind and snow over the Thanksgiving weekend. My fingers were screaming OUCH! at me the whole time.

See, ya gotta learn to delegate authority. Catbead and I supervised the excavation of several snowbound letterboxes in Syracuse one day. The Highlander was such a BABY about it, too...all "My fingers are cold" and "Can't we just come back in the spring?". Like I wasn't WATCHING his fingers get cold! Can I BE more supportive? No BLEEDING in my house, either! LOL

You KNOW I'm kidding, right? Bring all the talk and new ideas you want...wouldn't be a real WNY meet without the easy banter of friends.

Which reminds me...we GOTTA get Team Dakota out here! I wonder if they know what's up?

I have just found an online site that is the most thorough amazing site for parks , state land, and general points of intertest in western new york I have ever seen. It takes a littleplaying with but the amount of info here is unreal. each place you click then has a bunch of relevant links . There is a veritable gold mine of ideas to place letterboxes. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Whoo, I am WAY late on this thread, huh? Darn, and I made my hubby throw all of his old contact thingys away after he had lasik!

We just switched over to new cell phones, and I'm keeping the old one for a "distracttion" when we go boxing. That way, I can throw my old one ( whoops, I tripped and it flew out of my hand and landed somewhere in these bushes! ) without worry!

Take it from somebody who USED to do that: Quit it. Make yourself a data cable and start downloading the waypoints directly to the Garmin -- before you wear out the buttons on that thing.

Who's finished their 50,000 word book? =)

I contributed about 20,000 words to my AT book, but I wasn't planning to finish it this month either. I'm just past Hot Springs (that's North Carolina) and on my way to Erwin (that's in Tennessee). The pace is picking up, though. =)

Let's see... I'm sitting at roughly 19,000 words... hmmmmm... I wonder if I should just cut-and-paste all those darn "Two-Guys" posts into my book?

I love that you came up with this name! I've always been uncomfortable with those very commercialized religious theme parks.

Both the book and movie of this story are favorites with me. I did, however, think that the book was much creepier. As I recall (haven't read the book since I was a teen), I found the movie did a better job on the love story. So it was a case of liking each one for itself, which is always nice.

I also think that the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice was wonderful. I only wish that they could have cast Rosamund Pike (who was in the newer version) as Jane in the A&E version. The actress they did cast for Jane in that version wasn't bad, but I felt that Rosamund Pike did a smashing job as Jane.

Don't think that I've seen anyone play Elizabeth Bennett well enough, though. But then, those are hard shoes to fill.

I'm not feeling all that original tonight - which is unusual for me, I can usually play with words. I'm SURE others will come up with some lightbulbs for ya, here's what I've got.

Although this site (http://www.rhymezone.com) doesn't have "geocaching", "geocache" or "cache" in it's system I note that that the following possibilies DO show up:

Rehash (ing)

Diaper Rash (ing)

Hot Flash (ing)

And my personal fave: SKIN RASH (ing) muuuuuuuuuwaaaaaaa This I COULD ....Work With!

The only one beign *cheated* is the finder. By that I mean they are (maybe)missing something the planter wanted them to see. There was one box here where the clues led you on a hiking trail and once you got to the box you discovered you could have parked within 100 yards of it but you would have missed some great views of the valley.

I came across this by accident the other day. First time I tried it. It's in:
http://www.atlasquest.com/boards/help.html

under headings. You can do the following. Just take the spaces out to make it work. The 1 is the biggest heading and it goes down to 6 being the littlest. I think.

Don't forget to take out the spaces.

I'm sure this has been thought of, done, and discussed before, but the idea is new to me. We were sitting at the table tonight playing a board game and I was using my son's new christmas pencil. It had this cute little snowman eraser on it,
sort of like these:

http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=browse&origin=searchMain.jsp&event=link.itemDetails&demandPrefix=12&sku=9/62&mode=Searching&erec=5&D=christmas%2Berasers&Ntt=christmas%2Berasers&Ntk=all&Dx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&Ntx=mode%252bmatchallpartial&y=0&N=0&x=0&sd=HOLIDAY+ERASERS+%285DZ%29

It dawned on me that it would make a cute stamp, and it's carvable....so the next thing I hear is, "Mom, you are cutting up my new eraser!!" I couldn't help myself. I told him I'd go buy him a new one tomorrow, while I'm buying several to carve up! Actually, I think I'll let the kids carve them. All they'll have to do is carve around the existing design on the eraser. The thing held ink very well, and made a very nice image. Perfect for kids.

I thought about doing the same, but I couldn't see Quibell sitting around the campfire with the desert nomads exchanging two guys jokes about things that don't even exist in their world... laptops, PZ Cut, Altoids Tins, koosh balls... it wouldn't wash at all!
